The Best Disney Villains Ranked: How Disney Is Celebrating Halloween
It’s almost time for spooky season, Disney lovers. What better way to celebrate than with some of the coolest and most evil villains Disney has to offer? Here are the best Disney villains, according to fans on Ranker, and how Disney is putting a spotlight on their villains with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
3. Ursula from ‘The Little Mermaid’
Life’s full of tough choices, isn’t it? And with “Poor Unfortunate Souls” under her belt, who wouldn’t love to hate this sea witch? Well, fans are in luck. Disney is creating two other versions of the classic Little Mermaid story. For ABC’s upcoming The Little Mermaid Live event, which airs on Nov. 5, Queen Latifah is set to play Ursula.
For Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, Melissa McCarthy is reportedly “in talks” to portray the iconic Disney villain. However, multiple celebrities expressed their love for Ursula, including Lizzo, who posted a video sporting makeup and a costume, singing “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”
2. Maleficent from ‘Sleeping Beauty’
Of all the Disney villains, Maleficent is probably the most evil — she feels no remorse putting a spell on a literal baby. She doesn’t sing, she doesn’t make jokes, and she can turn herself into a dragon, hello! It’s no wonder she’s at the top of the list of Disney villains.
To learn more about this character, fans can watch the live-action Maleficent movie starring Angelina Jolie. The sequel to Maleficent entitled Maleficent: Mistress of Evil premieres on Oct. 18, 2019, in the United States.
1. Scar from ‘The Lion King’
Pouncing at the number one spot is Scar from Disney’s The Lion King. The perfect combination of sassy, funny, smart, and evil, Scar proves that you don’t have to be big and muscular to be terrifying. After all, he sings “Be Prepared” and he has a whole squad of hyenas ready to do anything he says — if I was Simba, I’d be afraid, too.
Fans can see Scar in two versions of The Lion King. In Disney’s 2019 photo-real reboot of the classic film, Chiwetel Ejiofor portrays the villain. This reimagined version of The Lion King is now playing in theaters.
Walt Disney World celebrated their first ‘Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party’ of the season
With Halloween, right around the corner, now is the best time of year for Disney villains. In Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, fans can see their favorite villains up close, with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
There, Disney puts a spotlight on everyone’s favorite villains, as attendees dress in their Halloween best and trick or treat around the theme park. Additionally, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, in front of Cinderella’s Castle in Magic Kingdom Park, gives fans a chance to see their favorite villains doing what they do best.
Disney wastes no time enjoying the spooky season; the first Halloween celebration at Walt Disney World happened on Aug. 16, 2019. Halloween parties take place on select nights until Nov. 1, 2019. Learn more about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party on the theme park’s website.
