The Big Bang Theory: What Does Kaley Cuoco Think of the Show Ending, and What’s Next for Her?

Love it or hate it, you have to admit the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory has staying power. Aside from the future-predicting The Simpsons and South Park, few half-hour comedies lasted longer. The show started in 2007, but Season 12 is the last season of The Big Bang Theory. Like the rest of her castmates, Kaley Cuoco, who plays Penny on the show, is moving on, and it’s a bittersweet ending. Here’s what the actress has to say about the show ending, and what’s next for Kaley Cuoco after The Big Bang Theory.

Any TV show that lasts 12 years is doing something right, and that extends behind the scenes, too. Kaley Cuoco spent 12 years working alongside the same actors and crew members for months at a time, so she knows she’ll be emotional when they finally close the curtain on The Big Bang Theory. Even though she knows the show has to end, she doesn’t want it to. She knew the show was something special after filming the first episode, and 12 years working on it only drives that point home.

“After the pilot, there was definitely something special, there was definitely a special feel there,” Cuoco said at the 2019 Golden Globes, according to Fox News. “Now we’re on the second half [of Season 12], and it’s starting to get a little heavy. I hope we pre-shoot the whole last episode because I don’t think I’ll be able to keep a dry eye.”

Penny will go away when the show ends, but there’s lots of work already on the schedule for Kaley Cuoco after The Big Bang Theory.

It seems like every popular TV gets a second life at some point, and Cuoco is definitely on board if and when a reboot of The Big Bang Theory happens. However, she’ll have to shift her schedule around to make it happen. She’s already signed up to star in the TV series The Flight Attendant, and she also serves as executive producer on the show. Cuoco is also part of the cast for the Harley Quinn animated series in the Batman universe, according to her IMDb profile.

We’re guessing that showing up to work with great co-stars isn’t the only thing Kaley Cuoco will miss about The Big Bang Theory. As of the original cast members on a hit TV show, Cuoco received raises every time her contract expired, and she was one of the highest-paid actresses on TV in 2018.

Thanks in large part to The Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco’s net worth hits $50 million, and it will only keep growing. She and the rest of her castmates could earn millions of dollars every year from syndication. They might make more from the reruns than they did at the show’s peak.
