The Biggest Celebrity Wedding From the Year You Were Born
There have been many celebrity marriages throughout the years and some of them have been long-lasting. Even today, there are celebrities tying the knot and giving details about their lavish weddings. But what about the celebrity weddings from past decades?
We decided to pull the biggest celebrity wedding of every year from 1965–1985. Some celebrities went to great efforts to keep their ceremony private while others had big Hollywood parties. Some of these marriages barely made the year mark while others are still going.
So who got married the year you were born and what was that marriage or wedding like? Read on to find out!
1. 1965: Jane Fonda and Roger Vadim
The actress came across the director who thought she would be perfect for Circle of Love. It didn’t take much longer for their relationship to become romantic despite Roger Vadim still being in a relationship with Catherine Deneuve.
The two eventually got married on Aug. 14, 1965, in Las Vegas. The ceremony was pretty private with family members and famous friends including Brooke Hayward and Dennis Hopper. The ceremony was in a six-room suite in the Dunes hotel and Fonda’s brother, Peter strummed on a guitar during it. Vadim forgot to buy a ring and borrowed Tina Marquand’s.
The marriage didn’t last, and the two got divorced in 1973. Both of them got married two more times to other people.

2. 1966: Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow
The crooner and the actress got married on July 19, 1966, at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. No members of Frank Sinatra’s family attended the ceremony, but there were many famous people at the Palm Springs after party including Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, and Dean Martin, according to Refinery 29.
The marriage reportedly had its troubles with Sinatra not being supportive of Farrow continuing her acting career. Eventually, he served Mia Farrow with divorce papers on the set of the film, Rosemary’s Baby, which he disapproved of. The two got divorced in 1968.

3. 1967: Elvis Presley and Priscilla Beaulieu
On May 1, 1967, Elvis Presley and Priscilla Beaulieu got married at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. The two went to great lengths to make the ceremony private, like borrowing Frank Sinatra’s private jet to get Presley to the wedding.
They did have a second reception at Graceland with more people. The couple eventually divorced in 1973.

4. 1968: Jacqueline Kennedy and Aristotle Onassis
Jacqueline Kennedy married Aristotle Onassis on Oct. 20, 1968. The wedding was on Onassis’ private island, Skorpios and it was small. It was a Greek-Orthodox ceremony and the reception was on a yacht.
The two were married until he died in 1975.

5. 1969: John Lennon and Yoko Ono
The iconic music couple got married on March 20, 1969. The ceremony took place at the British Consulate Office, Gibraltar. They later celebrated by having a “bed-in for peace” for seven days and invited the media.
The couple stayed married until Lennon was murdered in 1980.

6. 1970: Stevie Wonder and Syreeta Wright
The music legend married his first wife, Syreeta Wright, this year. At the time, she was a secretary at Motown but after their marriage, they worked on his album “Where I’m Coming From” together, according to New York Daily News.
Their marriage ended in divorce in 1972. She went on to become a singer-songwriter herself by the name of Syreeta.

7. 1971: Mick Jagger and Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias
The rocker married Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias in 1971. Many of his friends, including Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, didn’t know about the wedding until the day before, and he chartered a plane for them.
There are photos of the couple on their wedding day because French law required to have a civil ceremony at the town hall, which was open to the public before the church ceremony. The marriage ended in divorce in 1978.

8. 1972: James Taylor and Carly Simon
The singers got married on Nov. 2, 1972, but their relationship wasn’t perfect then. Carly Simon revealed that Bianca Jagger called James Taylor the night before their wedding to say Simon cheated with Mick Jagger, which was true.
Taylor said he trusted Simon, and they still walked down the aisle. They had two kids, but eventually divorced in 1983.

9. 1973: Farrah Fawcett and Lee Majors
Before Farrah Fawcett had an iconic television role, she was doing smaller roles on television and got married to actor Lee Majors in 1973. The marriage lasted for nine years before they went their separate ways.
However, when Fawcett had cancer, Majors did reach out to her through mutual friends. Eventually, they reconnected as friends according to Us Weekly.

10. 1974: Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton
The producer married the actress in 1974 in their Beverly Hills home a day after his divorce was final from his second wife, Eula Andersson. They had two daughters together Rashida and Kidada Jones.
The two later got a divorce in 1990.

11. 1975: Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton
The co-stars got married a second time in Oct. 1975 at Chobe National Park in Botswana. Technically this was Taylor’s sixth marriage and it lasted a year.
After the divorce, the two still stayed friends and even did the play, Private Lives together.

12. 1976: Sidney Poitier and Joanna Shimkus
Sidney Poitier and Joana Shimkus got married on Jan. 23, 1976, and had two daughters together. They eventually divorced 15 years later.

13. 1977: Donald Trump and Ivana Zelníčková
The future president married his first wife in 1977 at the Marble Collegiate Church. They had three children together, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric Trump, before having a messy divorce.
Trump’s affair with Marla Maples came to light and, in a deposition, Ivana Trump claimed her husband violently raped her. When this allegation was later brought up, she claimed she didn’t mean it in “a literal or criminal sense.”
The divorce became official in 1992.

14. 1978: Meryl Streep and Don Gummer
The record-winning Oscar winner turned to Don Gummer after the death of her boyfriend, John Cazale. She stayed at Gummer’s apartment while shooting Kramer vs. Kramer and soon, they got married in 1978 in the garden of her parent’s home.
The two are still married and have four children together.

15. 1979: Isabella Rossellini and Martin Scorsese
The director and actress got married in 1979. But their relationship had its struggles, given Martin Scorsese’s alleged cocaine use at the time, according to The Telegraph.
They got a divorce three years later.

16. 1980: Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson
Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson met at Morehouse College and later got married in 1980. Since then, they have both been acting and had a daughter, Zoe, together. The marriage is still going strong. So what’s their secret?
“We actually thought we were going to be the black Liz Taylor and Richard Burton, but we were going to stay together!” Samuel L. Jackson told People. “She’s had a good career. I’ve had a good career. So it’s worked.”

17. 1981: Prince Charles and Princess Diana
This wedding took the world by storm on July 29, 1981, at St. Paul’s Cathedral. The event was broadcast to 750 million people around the world, according to Town & Country. The marriage ended in divorce in 1996, and it was messy.
The princess said she had doubts even before her wedding because of Prince Charles’ relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles, who he eventually married.

18. 1982: Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Levy
The Osbourne couple met because Sharon’s father managed Black Sabbath. Eventually, the two got married in 1982, and she started managing the band. The couple went on to have three children together, and two of them agreed to be on their reality show.
They are still married, but their marriage has had some rocky times. In 2016, they made headlines because Ozzy was outed for having an affair. But in 2017, the couple decided to renew their wedding vows in Las Vegas and are still together.

19. 1983: Carrie Fisher and Paul Simon
The actress and singer had a complicated relationship. A lot of that was due to Carrie Fisher’s struggle with addiction and mental illness. Eventually, they did get married in 1983 in Paul Simon’s apartment and celebrated by having Fisher go on tour with him.
But the couple got divorced after less than a year.

20. 1984: Joel Coen and Frances McDormand
Before the director and actress made the beloved movie, Fargo, together, they got married in 1984. The wedding band Frances McDormand wore for some time was actually worn by Joel Coen’s ex-wife. McDormand didn’t want to waste the jewelry, but she later got an original band.
The two are still married.

21. 1985: Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley
The piano man married the supermodel in 1985 on a boat in the New York Harbor. There were other celebrities, like Paul Simon and Isabella Rossellini, in attendance.
They had one child together and later divorced in 1994. The two are still on good terms.
