‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ May Restart Production Earlier Than Expected ― But Is It Feasible?

Every television show which is filmed in the United States is currently on pause due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This means all soap operas, including The Bold and the Beautiful, are on pause. A new report suggests that if somehow everything gets back on track, the show could be back filming. Still, this could be a reach given all that is going on.

A new report says that the show could restart soon

In a new report, Deadline says that production on the show could restart in June. However, a lot will need to be done before people can officially return to set.

The report from Nellie Andreeva reads, “I hear the soap’s cast and crew this week received a new memo, informing them that The Bold and the Beautiful production company is currently getting ready to resume production in June. Sources stressed that this is just a projected start date and, while the producers are making preparations, the situation remains fluid.”

And even if the show is ready to go back, the report notes that official safety protocols need to be set in place by Television City, Los Angeles, and the state of California. They would also need to be endorsed by all of the Hollywood unions.

Right now, the only television shows that are set to resume production are Tyler Perry’s Sistas and Tyler Perry’s The Oval. Both series, which are created, written, and directed by Perry, air on BET and film at his studios in Atlanta. Perry has stated that proper safety precautions will be taken, including a limited amount of crew members and measures that will have the cast and crew quarantined on the studio lot for the two and a half weeks the shows film their new seasons. Right now, the shows are set to reconvene for production in July.

Given the fact that these shows are starting back in July, it would be hard to believe that the Los Angeles-shot The Bold and the Beautiful would be able to kick things back off in June.

An actress from the show gives an update

In a recent interview, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, who portrays Steffy Forrester, talked about when and how the show could come back.

She told Herald LIVE, “I am kind of navigating this, so I don’t really know. I think behind the scenes there will be a skeleton crew, or smaller crew, and I guess more organized [sic] with how we shoot, with audio and directors and making sure we wash our hands and cleanliness around the studio.”

MacInnes Wood also talked about how it was when the show first had to get shut down due to the pandemic. At first, it was going to halt production for 2 weeks, but the stop later became an indefinite one. “The mood was very interesting because we didn’t know we were going into quarantine. We film two weeks on, one week off. Early in March I filmed a few episodes and was off for the week. We thought we were coming back. When we were filming, we had no idea about the gravity of COVID-19 and assumed we would be coming back right away,” she said.

The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS.
