‘The Boys’ Star Jack Quaid Is the Son Of These 2 Famous Actors

It’s hard to believe, but some of the biggest actors from the ‘90s and ‘00s have children who are now grown up and getting their own start in the industry. Among them is Jack Quaid, the son of two very famous stars from that era. Read on to discover who his mom and dad are, as well as a look at his new Amazon series, The Boys

Here’s what you may know him from

Quaid is a relatively new face in Hollywood. He is perhaps best known from a small role he had a few years ago. Quaid portrayed the contestant Marvel in The Hunger Games, and he says that to this day, he still gets comments from people angry that his character killed Rue (Amandla Stenberg).

Since The Hunger Games, Quaid’s most notable part was in the short-lived HBO series Vinyl opposite Bobby Cannavale and Olivia Wilde. He also appeared in the star-studded heist comedy Logan Lucky alongside Channing Tatum and Adam Driver.

Given his last name, you’ve probably deduced by now that actor Dennis Quaid is the young star’s dad. In 1988, the elder Quaid starred in the crime-thriller D.O.A., in which he acted opposite up-and-comer, Meg Ryan. The couple was married for 10 years, from 1991-2001. Jack is their only child together.

After their divorce, Quaid and Ryan both moved on. The former married his third wife, Kimberly Buffington, in 2004, with whom he had twins Thomas and Zoe. After several rocky years, they were divorced in 2018.

Ryan has not remarried. She adopted a daughter, Daisy, in 2006, without a partner. However, she has been in a relationship with musician John Mellencamp on and off since 2010, and the couple got engaged in 2018.

Ryan’s son on one of her infamous scenes

A little over 30 years ago, one of Ryan’s first big films premiered. She portrayed the titular woman in When Harry Met Sally opposite Billy Crystal. In one very memorable scene, she proves to Harry that women believably fake orgasms by demonstrating this while the two are dining together.

Quaid told Jimmy Kimmel in a recent interview that he had not seen the movie until last year. He watched it prior to filming his own romantic comedy, Plus One. “I immediately started crying because of how I proud I was of her,” he said of watching the film. “I called her immediately — I was like, ‘I’m so sorry I haven’t seen it until now.’”

But Ryan wasn’t phased, telling her son she’d only seen it once prior. “I’m like, ‘You’ve seen that movie [only] one time?’ If I was in that movie it would be like, an hour-and-a-half-long gif constantly running. I’d never stop watching it,” laughed Quaid.

What is The Boys about?

Quaid’s new role is an exciting one. He portrays Hughie, a man who works in an electronics store. One day, his girlfriend dies in a freak accident involving one of “the Seven,” a very famous group of superpowered individuals. After this, Hughie meets Billy Butcher, the leader of ‘the Boys,” who want to take down the superheroes once and for all.

Obviously, there has to be some conflict here. In addition to being ordinary humans up against “supes,” as they’re known, Hughie befriends Annie, alias Starlight, who isn’t sure she’s up to the task of being a member of the Seven. All eight episodes of Season 1 are available to stream now with an Amazon Prime membership.
