The Convenient Reason Why Meghan Markle Is Not Meeting President Trump During His U.K. Visit

President Trump is currently visiting the United Kingdom, and raising more than a few eyebrows in the process. The controversial leader has made a number of remarks in the past about certain members of the royal family, including Meghan Markle and the late Princess Diana.

While the majority of the royal family has kept their personal feelings about Trump very quiet, there’s one particular member who has expressed a number of problems with him and his policies: Meghan Markle.

Meghan Markle doesn’t like President Trump

Long before Meghan met Prince Harry and began a relationship with the red-headed royal, she was a well-known actress and social activist. Meghan lent her time to a wide variety of charitable causes and often spoke out regarding different political issues that she was passionate about. She also got involved in politics and was a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election.

Meghan was also an opponent of Clinton’s rival, Donald Trump. During an interview she gave prior to the election, she called Trump a misogynist and said that his policies were divisive. She even claimed that if Trump were to win the election, she would consider moving to Canada. Needless to say, Trump was elected president, and instead of moving to Canada, Markle got together with a member of the British royal family and packed her bags for London.

Meghan Markle won’t be meeting Donald Trump during his visit

In what will likely come as a relief to her, Meghan is conveniently off the hook for meeting Trump during his official visit. She is still on maternity leave, after having given birth to her son, Archie Harrison. Meghan will not be attending any royal functions for some time.

Exactly how long she will be on maternity leave is uncertain, but if her schedule is to be similar to her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton’s, she will likely take around six months off in order to fully recover and bond with her new baby.

Even though Meghan will be absent from the president’s stay in Britain, her husband Harry will be spending some time with Trump during the course of his visit. Whether or not Trump and the new dad discuss Meghan won’t be made public, but it’s certainly interesting to speculate.

Harry and Prince William might have their own feelings about Trump, especially considering the off-color comments that Trump has made in the past about how he thinks he could have slept with Diana. It is a known fact that Trump pursued Diana fervently following her divorce from Prince Charles, and it seems as though Trump has never quite gotten over the fact that the beloved royal spurned his advances.

What does Donald Trump think of Meghan Markle?

Trump’s opinion of Meghan has drawn some interest over the past few weeks. Following reports of an interview where Trump referred to Meghan as “nasty,” the president spoke out on Twitter and said that he’s never called Meghan any names of the sort and that he thinks she “will be very good.”

As for the rest of the royal family, the jury is out on what they actually think of Trump. Most of the royal family have already out the red carpet for the visiting president, and he’s spent time with Queen Elizabeth, Charles and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles, and William and Kate. It will be interesting to see how Trump’s visit turns out, and whether or not the royal family decides to speak out about their time with the president.
