‘The Good Fight’ Season 3: What Fans Can Expect
The Good Fight, the spinoff series of CBS’ The Good Wife, is already in its third season. And this season is going to be interesting after the cliffhanger in the finale episode of Season 2. Keep reading to learn what fans can expect from Season 3 of The Good Fight.
Background on the show
The Good Fight was supposed to start off with Hillary Clinton becoming president. As everyone knows, Donald Trump won the election.
The series premiere begins with Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), a lifelong Democrat, watching election results roll in and realizing Trump would become the next president of the United States.
Lockhart –spoiler alert! — who was in the midst of retiring from her law career, learns she’s broke — and must go back to work.
Why you should watch ‘The Good Fight’
If you didn’t watch The Good Wife or are apprehensive about watching spinoff shows in general, take a chance on this one.
“The Good Fight is […] better than its CBS predecessor The Good Wife ever was. Period. Full stop,” Daniel Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter wrote.
And we wholeheartedly concur with Fienberg. The show is funny, thought-provoking, and unpredictable. For those who watched The Good Wife, dare we say you won’t miss Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) keeping her emotions in check. The only caveat is that
‘It’s put up or shut up’
Several cast members appear in a promotional video for Season 3 of The Good Fight. “It’s put up or shut up,” is how actor Nyambi Nyambi, who plays the firm’s investigator, Jay Dipersia, describes the new season.
As for Baranski who plays the show’s main character, Diane Lockhart, she describes Season 3 like this: “News is breaking over us like waves, so it’s having this toxic effect. It’s making us all crazy.”
We learn more about Liz
Audra McDonald who plays Liz Reddick-Lawrence told Entertainment Tonight what fans can expect from her character in Season 3.
“Right off the bat with the first episode, there’s some personal things that happened to her that affect her and the law firm as well,” McDonald told Entertainment Tonight.
“There’s some major stuff that she has to deal with, some major bones that she has to deal with immediately.”
#MeToo will be addressed
“I don’t know what I’m allowed to say and not allowed to say, but I can say that it [the #MeToo movement] figures quite prominently,” McDonald said. “And it’s something that’s touched on and dealt with.”
Michael Sheen joins the cast
A new face will join the cast of Season 3. Actor Michael Sheen, who was once married to actress Kate Beckinsale, will play attorney Roland Blum. McDonald touched on the addition of a new character in her interview.
“Michael Sheen was such a brilliant choice,” McDonald said. “He’s such a wonderful man and so sweet, but [Roland is] this just larger than life, corrupt character. The character he’s playing really throws the firm for a major loop, so it’s like having an 800-pound gorilla in the room now.”
As for the status on the rest of the cast including Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo), Maia Rindell (Rose Leslie), Adrian Boseman (Delroy Lindo), Colin Morrello (Justin Bartha), Julius Cain (Michael Boatman), and Marissa Gold (Sarah Steele), you’ll have to watch Season 3 of The Good Fight.
