‘The Great British Baking Show’: How Much Does Paul Hollywood Make Per Season?
Mercurial. Demanding. Blunt. No, we’re not describing Simon Cowell from ‘American Idol’ fame; we’re talking about Paul Hollywood from the uber-gentle series, The Great British Baking Show.
The truth is, it’s Hollywood’s style and personality that helps keep viewers tuning in to the program. Now in its tenth season, the fan-favorite juggernaut keeps viewers on the edge of their seats as amateur bakers strive to be named Britain’s very best.
Find out how much Paul Hollywood earns for each season and more about the show.
How Paul Hollywood got his start
Hollywood comes from a long line of bakers in England. His grandfather was the chief baker at the Adelphi Hotel. His father started a bakery chain, Bread Winner. It makes complete sense, then, that he too, would pursue the vocation.
“I made my first bread – well, they were rolls, actually – with my dad when I was 10,” he reminisced with WhatsonTV in March. “It was a Saturday afternoon and we had Dickie Davies on. I still remember the taste and smell as they came out of the oven. It was one of the best rolls I’ve ever had.”
Despite Hollywood’s success on the show, his personal life is casting a shadow on his career. After leaving his wife of 20 years, he began other, very publicized relationships.
“I used to laugh when people called him a sex symbol because to me he was just my husband,” his now ex-wife Alexandra told The Daily Mail. “He was the same Paul he’d always been. He was very grounded. Fame didn’t go to his head at all.”
Once he began filming the American edition of the popular baking program, according to Alexandra, he began a relationship with his costar, 34-year-old chef Marcela Valladolid. When that relationship ended, he briefly mended fences with his ex-wife only to start another relationship with 23-year-old barmaid Summer Monteys-Fullam.
“If any more scandal comes out about his personal life he could run the risk of being more associated to scandal than cooking, which would then seriously damage his brand and earning potential,” celebrity PR expert Rob Cooper told The Mirror in August.
How much does Paul Hollywood earn per season of TGBBS?
Hollywood’s earning potential, indeed, is lucrative.
Hopefully, Hollywood’s personal life won’t overshadow his accomplishments and talents to the point of losing him a great deal such as the one he has with TGBBS.
As Hollywood himself has said on a now-removed Instagram post, “My silence on any matters is not a sign of weakness or agreement of what’s been said, merely I prefer a quiet life away from my day job!”
“Take what’s read with a pinch of salt and read between the lines,” he continued. “There’s always two sides to a story, you’ve only heard one….But alas I don’t play those games… thanks again.”
