The ‘Greatest’ (And Embarrassing) Thing to Happen to Kelly Clarkson at the ACM Awards

Texas native Kelly Clarkson attended the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM Awards) on April 7, 2019. Not only did she attend the awards show but she performed.

As a music star who has been in the industry for years, Clarkson demonstrated that “you can’t win ‘em all” even as a popular singer. Clarkson experienced a funny case of mistaken identity while at the ACM awards. Keep reading to learn what happened to Clarkson and how she reacted.

The ‘greatest’ thing that happened to Clarkson at the ACM Awards

Clarkson took to Twitter the night of the ACM Awards and explained “the greatest thing” that happened to her. And it wasn’t performing the song “Keeping Score”  at the show with Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney who together make up the duo, Dan and Shay. And it wasn’t being up for the award of Music Event of the Year for the same song. Instead, it was a funny moment that cameras didn’t catch and viewers at home didn’t get to see.

Clarkson explained what happened on Twitter.

“The greatest thing by far that happened to me tonight was being asked to move because some guy thought I was a seat filler at the ACM’s tonight,” she tweeted. She added laughing emojis and the hashtag #CantWinEmAll. “Literally, it made my night because he was so serious.”

How Clarkson responded

Clarkson also shared how she responded to the man who didn’t know she was, you know, Kelly Clarkson. “I just politely said no hahaha!!” she tweeted. She accompanied the tweet with a GIF of Nathan Fillion playing Rick Castle on the ABC detective drama, Castle.

If Clarkson felt embarrassed by what happened she didn’t show it. She took the moment in stride. But, we’re guessing the guy who asked her to move is now thoroughly embarrassed by what he did after he learned that he asked a three-time Grammy-winning singer to move because he mistook her for a seat filler. Talk about an embarrassing moment.

Coach on ‘The Voice’

Not only is Clarkson a three-time Grammy-winner, but she’s also a coach on the popular singing contest show, The Voice. Two years in a row, one of the singers on Clarkson’s team, what’s called “Team Kelly” on the show, took home first place which came with bragging rights for them and Clarkson as well as a record deal. Brynn Cartelli, a member of Team Kelly won Season 14 of The Voice and in Season 15, Chevel Shepherd, another one of Kelly’s artists won the competition and took home a record deal.

Clarkson’s back again on the current season of The Voice as a coach alongside Adam Levine of the Grammy-winning pop group Maroon 5, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony (EGOT) award winner John Legend, and country singer Blake Shelton.

She has a very unique edge over her fellow coaches on The Voice. Clarkson participated in a little singing competition called American Idol. She won Season 1 of American Idol and is now one of the richest winners ever in the show’s history. Clarkson’s net worth is estimated to be $28 million.

Another coach on The Voice has a connection to American Idol. Past coach, Jennifer Hudson, also got her start on American Idol like Clarkson.
