‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 4: What Fans Really Think of the Show Getting Another Season

The Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for a fourth season and fans have a lot of feelings. The hit Hulu series has a cult following and has no signs of stopping any time soon. So, what do fans really think of the show’s renewal for season 4? There are spoilers ahead.

Season 3, episode 13 was full of action

June, or Offred (Elisabeth Moss) didn’t make it out of Gilead at the end of season 3 to the surprise of no one. She did however successfully distract the guards to allow for the escape of numerous children onto a plane. She got to see the plane take off to Canada and know that she made that happen. She was even shot for her efforts, but she managed to kill the guard, so things seemed to even out. The season finale left fans craving more and concerned for June’s safety.

June probably survives her wound

We already know there will be a season 4, which could mean many things for June. She most likely makes it from the gunshot wound she received in the finale. “Her plot armor is so thick it drives me crazy so yeah, if she goes back and all is just as it was…. I might get whiplash from how hard I’ll be shaking my head,” a Reddit user wrote.

What fans are saying about season 4

“I think there’s going to be a lot of Martha’s and handmaids against the wall,” someone pointed out on Reddit. “The commanders can’t trust anybody. It will be obvious this was a huge campaign to take the kids. I think June will go underground.”

“Agreed. I think one more season is enough cause they’ve already started the fall of Gilead,” another user noted. “Or I would be fine with 2 more seasons of 10 episodes each. If they do more than that it’ll just start to repeat itself.”

Many viewers are ready for a change

“I’m having a hard time seeing where they can take the story at this point,” a Reddit user said. “If they dive into the bigger political bits between Canada, Gilead and what’s left of the US then they run the risk of losing all the personal aspects of the show.”

Many fans agree that something needs to change in season 4. “Many aspects of the show are still excellent but overall it’s just mediocre at the moment. Like you said, a major shift is needed in Season 4,” a user wrote.

“This show needs to wrap up, there hasn’t been any real progression and June is totally immune to any real danger and the audience knows it,” a Reddit user noted.

Hopefully, season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale will give the characters more room to grow, while at the same time advancing June’s story along a little more. I think most of us are ready for June to get out of Gilead after three seasons.
