Musicians have a cool job touring the world and playing their music. But it doesn’t always mean they will rake in a lot cash. Many artists have to tour in order to make money and come up with gigs on the side like brand deals. However, there are many celebrities who have played it smart.
Musicians and DJs have managed to make big money in different avenues. Forbes has released its Highest Paid Celebrities of 2017 list. We decided to sift through the top earners to point out which people in music have made it to the top of the list.
So which celebrities are the biggest money makers in the music industry? Here are the 25 highest paid musicians of 2017.
25. The Chainsmokers – $38 million
The DJ duo has been making waves on the music scene. Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall have a net worth of $38 million, according to Forbes. A big part of that has been being able to release multiple hits like “Closer” and “Paris.” But the biggest contributor is that they signed an exclusive three-year deal with Wynn Nightlife in Las Vegas. The company has two nightclubs where they have been performing, XS Nightclub and Encore Beach Club.
“We are so thrilled to have this residency at the Wynn,” Alex Pall said in a press release. “They represent the best of what Las Vegas has to offer and we look forward to a great partnership.”
It’s a pretty risky move for both parties. The duo isn’t allowed to perform anywhere else for three years, and the company is betting that they’ll stay just as popular in a fickle business. But it looks like it has worked out in their favor so far.
24. Jennifer Lopez – $38 million
The pop star broke into the top 25 by having a net worth of $38 million, according to Forbes. A big part of that is that she is not only a judge for the show World of Dance, but is an executive producer on it. The same goes for her crime drama, Shades of Blue.
23. Tiësto – $39 million
The Dutch DJ’s net worth is $39 million, according to Forbes. His biggest source of income has been touring and taking home nightly fees. He also signed up with Hakkasan Group for another year to perform at multiple venues in Las Vegas, according to Billboard.

21. Jay Z – $42 million

He also still has a number of companies that he owns, including Roc Nation, Armand de Brignac, and Tidal.
20. Celine Dion – $42 million
The Canadian powerhouse makes the bulk of her money from her Las Vegas residency. She also still goes on tour outside of her residency. Now, she is branching out and is releasing a fashion line. Her net worth is $42 million, according to Forbes.

The powerhouse came back to the scene with her album, 25. She broke records with the record’s sales, so it’s not surprising that her tour did pretty well, too.
