How much do your favorite musical artists earn? Here are the 10 highest-paid musicians of 2018, according to Billboard.
10. Coldplay
- Earnings: $26.5 million
Coldplay earned $26.5 million last year. In 2017, Coldplay had $820,000 in album sales, $1.7 million from streaming music sales, $1.6 million from publishing, and $22.3 million from touring. Coldplay sold more than 2.2 million digital tracks in 2017 and was one of four rock bands to top 1 billion streams, according to Billboard.
9. Roger Waters
- Earnings: $27.2 million
Roger Waters earned $27.2 million last year. In 2017, Waters had $1.3 million in album sales, $453,000 in sales from streaming music, $269,000 from publishing, and $25.2 million from touring. Waters’ $1.3 million in sales royalties are partly due to his share of the Pink Floyd catalog, reports Billboard.
8. Guns N’ Roses
- Earnings: $27.8 million
Guns N’ Roses earned $27.8 million last year. In 2017, Guns N’ Roses had $655,000 in album sales, $755,000 in sales from streaming music, $524,000 from publishing, and $25.9 million from touring. Last year they came in at No. 2 on Billboard’s list of highest-paid musicians.
7. Billy Joel
- Earnings: $29.2 million
Billy Joel earned $29.2 million last year. In 2017, the singer had more than $479,000 in album sales, $780,000 in sales from streaming music, $584,000 from publishing, and $27.4 million from touring. Billy Joel was the fifth-highest-paid live act of 2017 as a result of his Madison Square Garden residency and 15 arena and stadium shows, reports Billboard.

Ed Sheeran earned $31.3 million last year. In 2017, the singer had $4 million in album sales, $4.2 million in sales from streaming music, $3.2 million from publishing, and $19.9 million from touring. Sheeran reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 twice in 2017 with “Perfect” and “Shape of You.”
4. Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars earned $40.7 million last year. In 2017, the singer had $2.6 million in album sales, $2.8 million in sales from streaming music, $1.4 million from publishing, and $33.9 million from touring. Bruno Mars is the top-ranking R&B/hip-hop act and the second most-played artist on terrestrial radio (with 1.8 million spins), according to Billboard.
3. Metallica

Metallica earned $43.2 million last year. In 2017, Metallica had $8.7 million in album sales, $2.2 million in sales from streaming music, $1.6 million from publishing, and $30.7 million from touring. Last year they came in at No. 15 on Billboard’s list of highest paid musicians.
2. Garth Brooks
- Earnings: $52.2 million
Garth Brooks earned $52.2 million last year. Most of his earnings came from a tour he just finished at the end of 2017 that lasted more than three years and had 390 concert dates. In 2017, Brooks had $4.8 million in album sales, $569,000 in sales from streaming music, $190,000 from publishing, and $46.7 million from touring.
1. U2
- Earnings: $54.4 million
The highest paid musicians in 2018 are U2. They earned $54.4 million last year. Most of the band’s earnings came from their Joshua Tree Tour, which consisted of 28 U.S. tour dates. In 2017, U2 had $1.1 million in album sales, $624,000 in sales from streaming music, $705,000 from publishing, and $52 million from touring.
