Although it’s unfortunate, celebrities deal with an immense amount of pressure to look perfect. Every tiny flaw is noticed and criticized. Victoria Beckham has lived in the public eye for over two decades, so she knows how hard it can be to live with that pressure.
But lucky for her, over the years, Beckham has been able to develop a healthy attitude toward her body. She also realizes the importance of setting a good example and she recently revealed how she does it.
Victoria Beckham has learned to take care of her body
“The older I get, the more I realize what works for me and what doesn’t,” she said.
Beckham is a busy woman and taking care of her body is key, which means working out and eating healthy. But she didn’t always have this attitude: Beckham struggled with body image for a long time. It’s taken a lot of hard work to come to the point that she’s at, but the charges are worth it because of how strong her body is now. She’s able to get through a busy day with no problems.
When she was younger, Beckham admits that she didn’t realize how much little things — like sleep, exercise and water — could affect your health. But now, she makes those things a priority so that she’s always able to function at her best. She even admitted to Vogue that she used to skip meals when she had a tight dress to fit into later, but now that she’s older, she doesn’t worry about that stuff.
“Who can be bothered with that stuff now?” she said. “I’m too busy.”
Why Victoria Beckham never skips meals in front of her family
Beckham and her husband, David Beckham share four kids: 20-year-old Brooklyn, 17-year-old Romeo, 14-year-old Cruz, and 8-year-old Harper. Having a family has made her aware of how important it is to have a healthy attitude around food.
“You realize they notice everything,” she told Glamour.
She has to be a good example, and that includes mealtimes. So, Beckham makes it a priority to practice healthy eating around her family.
“I would never sit down with my kids and skip a meal,” she said. “You need to show little people how to be healthy and happy with who they are.”
Beckham’s children are now getting older, they’re not toddlers anymore. But that doesn’t mean she can relax her standards. Even older kids will often look to their parents as an example. And teens struggle with body image so much, it’s important to show them what a healthy perspective looks like.
Motherhood has helped Victoria Beckham embrace her body
It’s not just raising children that’s helped Beckham change her attitude, it was also the changes that come with pregnancy. We think she looks great, but after four kids, there’s bound to be some changes to a woman’s body. That’s a natural process that all mothers go through. Beckham’s been able to embrace those changes and she now sees her body as “an instrument, 100 percent.”
Just like with any instrument or machine, you have to make sure it has everything it needs to function properly.
“I expect a lot from my body,” Beckham admitted. And now, she’s able to give her body everything it needs to get through the day successfully. “I have to treat it in the right way,” she said. “and make sure it has the fuel it needs to work long hours and be a mum, and have the energy to do it all.”
