Thanks to social media, we know that the fourth season has finished filming and that can only mean that the series will be back very soon. In the post, Uhtred and Finan (Mark Rowley) are seen embracing. “That’s a wrap! Here’s to a job well done. #thelastkingdom #season4,” the post is captioned.

When will season 4 of ‘The Last Kingdom’ premiere?

The highly anticipated Netflix series can’t get here fast enough for fans. So, when will the new season premiere? Again, social media seems to have an answer. According to the show’s account, the series will be back next year. “Join Uhtred next year on Netflix as the battle continues,” so it isn’t a definitive date. But since the show has finished filming, it means a date is on the horizon.

The cast has been sharing hilarious behind-the-scenes images to hold fans over

Thanks to the cast, we have a lot of behind-the-scenes images of what they’ve been up to. Most recently Eliza Butterworth, who plays Aelswith, posted a real gem of her and a few of her castmates out to dinner. She’s joined by Millie Brady (Aethelflaed), Emily Cox (Brida), Magnus Bruun (Cnut), and Toby Regbo (Aethelred). A new castmate is seen on the left, Stefanie Martini, who will play a new role this season as Aethelred’s love interest Eadith. The group seems to be enjoying each other’s company.

Butterworth has been quick to share more unique images with her on-screen children. Another post shows her and Timothy Innes, who plays her son and the new King Edward. “My son and I living our best lives as mermaids. Stunning costumes as ever by the phenomenal @mollyemmarowe @thelastkingdom @netflix ⚜️🖤⚜️ #timothyinnes #underthesea #theonlywayiswessex,” Butterworth captioned the image.

In another post, Butterworth is with her on-screen daughter Millie Brady. They’re taking a break in-between takes and checking over their lines. It looks like they’re also getting in a quick bite while they can. “Break time. ⚔️🥨⚔️ #saxonsandwiches #thelastkingdom,” the image is captioned.

Magnus Bruun, who plays Cnut, has also been sharing behind-the-scenes images. In one, he pokes fun at Brida (Emily Cox). He appears to be walking with two canes for support. “Note to self: Don’t ever tell Brida to do the dishes! 🤦‍♂️,” wrote Bruun.

Mark Rowley (Finan) recently shared a hilarious image of himself and his fellow actors goofing off with traffic cones. “Actors waiting at base… Madness on and off camera!!! Band name suggestions? #season4,” Rowley wrote.

Another crazy image shows Rowley clearly elated alongside his fellow actors joking around about getting tickets to a festival in Wessex. “We won free tickets to the Wessex Wireless Festival. 4 days luxury camping and a VIP pass to the main stage. It had nothing to do with Princess Aethelflaed being a royal and knowing the event organizers. It was just pure luck. Our tickets arrived in a golden tube thing. So happy guys!!! #wessexlife #wessexmusicfestival #coachella #glastonbury 900AD.”

Fans of The Last Kingdom can’t wait to catch back up with their favorite warriors. The series will be back sometime next year.
