Bo-Katan first appeared in the Star Wars franchise in the fourth season of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Katee Sackhoff voiced the character in the show and later reprised her role in the live-action series The Mandalorian. Bo-Katan also appeared in Star Wars Rebels

It may have been tricky to translate Bo-Katan to real life while using the same actress, but the creators were successful. Sackhoff went through the character’s backstory with the producers. The Star Wars character is a human from the planet Mandalore and is part of House Kryze.

Bo-Katan’s planet was ruled by pacifism, but she sought to study martial arts. She became a fierce warrior who is an expert in hand-to-hand combat. Of course, she also is skilled in a variety of weapons, and she often wields dual pistols in fights. The character has proven to be a capable leader.

Appearance-wise, Bo-Katan is notable for her short, red hair that resembles a traditional Mandalorian style. She has gained a number of fans.

Bo-Katan helps out Mando

After 11 years, fans finally saw Bo-Katan make another appearance in the second season of The Mandalorian. Bo-Katan is the leader of the Nite Owls, which is an elite Mandalorian unit made up of female fighters.

In the episode “The Heiress,” Mando and the child visited a coastal world to gather information about other Mandalorians. They get attacked by a group of Quarren, but Bo-Katan rescues them. She offered to provide him with information on the Jedi in exchange for his help.

While they have their differences, the two of them form a comradery towards the end. Before Bo-Katan and Mando part ways, she tells him where he can find Ahsoka Tano. Bo-Katan helps Mando get one step closer to delivering the child to the Jedi.

In the show, she is still a Mandalorian but a different version compared to Mando. Part of her quest is to get back the Darksaber, and her main objective in the series is to reconquer Mandalore.

Bo-Katan’s line referenced a Darth Vader scene

Since Bo-Katan helps out Mando and The Child, it would seem that she is more of a protagonist. However, there is a scene in The Mandalorian that had people second-guess the character’s motives. Some describe it as a Darth Vader moment.

According to Screen Rant, the moment happens in the same episode that Bo-Katan makes her first appearance on the show. Mando assists her in seizing weapons from an Imperial ship in exchange for some information. However, she soon insists that Mando help her take control of the ship.

Mando opposes her demand and tells her that she is “changing the terms of the deal.” She responds to him with, “this is the way.” It is this exchange that had some fans wondering if she may be more villainous than she seems.

The scene is a reference to a moment between Darth Vader and Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back. Lando and Darth Vader make a deal that puts the heroes in jeopardy. When Lando later confronts Vader, Vader informs him that he is “altering the deal.”

It is likely that Bo-Katan is not going to be a villain. The scene probably was meant to show how different her and Mando’s world views are. More of her character may get revealed if and when she returns.
