Spider-Sense Has a New Name in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’

Spider-Man: Far From Home is almost here.

In the months since the trailer came out, Marvel fans have been waiting with bated breath for the solo Spider-Man film to hit theaters. The movie comes roughly two months after the release of Avengers: Endgame, which concluded a 22-movie run known as the Infinity Saga. It will show Peter Parker picking up where things ended, using his superpowers to defend the world from more evil.

It appears that Parker will be tapping into his comic book ability of Spider-Sense, but that’s not what it’s called in Spider-Man: Far From Home. The name is more, um, interesting.

The new name for Spider-Sense might surprise you

Sitting down for an interview with ComicBook in June 2019, the cast of the film revealed that Spider-Sense is getting somewhat of a misnomer. Spider-Sense is now called the “Peter Tingle.”

Yep, you read that correctly.

The name comes up in a scene between Parker and Aunt May. Parker is chilling in his bedroom when Aunt May comes in and throws a banana at him, hitting him in the face. May didn’t intend to harm Parker, but to see if he could dodge the banana without knowing it was coming.

“You can dodge bullets, but not bananas?” she asks. She continues, “I thought you could sense that with your Peter Tingle.”

Fans web-slinged their opinions on the name to social media

If you’ve been on social media, you might have noticed the endless reactions to “Peter Tingle.” While some people gave it a thumbs-up and commended Marvel for switching things up, others can’t believe the iconic comic brand will call Parker’s trademark power such a thing.

For what it’s worth, Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, appears to be OK with the name. He told ComicBook he thinks it’s “funny.”

What is ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ about?

You’d think it’d be a darker film, as it’s set right after the death of Tony Stark in Endgame. But director Jon Watts told ComicBook that he chose not to focus on all of the gloom surrounding Endgame.

“[This] isn’t the start of a new, dark ’emo’ phase for Peter,” Watts explained. “Even though he’s gone through all these dramatic and traumatic events, he’s still the same Peter Parker we know and love. It’s seeing how he deals with those things [that are] interesting for me.”

Parker will find his strength and team up with Mysterio to fight off the Elementals in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ release date is coming up quick

Have you gotten your tickets yet? There are only a few days left until Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 2, and it looks like it’s going to be a sold-out event.

The movie is already slated to be a box office success. According to Variety, early tracking says the film is expected to earn $154 million within the first six days of its release.

So, be there or be square.
