The ‘Most Annoying Question’ Giada De Laurentiis Gets Asked
As a celebrity chef, and a good-looking one at that, Giada De Laurentiis gets a lot of attention from fans and media alike.
There’s one question that the Giada in Italy star finds particularly annoying when it’s asked of her. Find out what that question is and a couple of others that she routinely gets asked.
How does she do it all as a single mom?
The megawatt-smile chef is frequently asked how she gets it all done as someone with incredibly active and successful careers as a restaurateur, a television chef, and a cookbook author. In addition to all that, she has her duties as a single mom and, well, it’s not for the faint of heart.
“What’s helped me be successful is being okay with knowing I can’t do it all,” she told People in 2018. “I have a wonderful team of people around me that help me every day. Getting along with my ex-husband really helps as well. We’re supportive of each other and, in turn, supportive of Jade.”
One fan who went too far
According to Page Six in June of 2019, De Laurentiis requested and was granted a restraining order against a fan who was persistently stalking her.
The Food Network star’s fan kept sending her messages through her website, including one that said, “I have loved you since the first day I ever met you and I haven’t stopped … I love you with all of my heart and soul, even still — I have never met a woman more beautiful than you — both inside and out.”
De Laurentiis claims the man showed up “shaking and sweating” at a book signing where she made an appearance, and requesting to see her in private.
The fan would not stop contacting De Laurentiis and she eventually was granted a restraining order against him.
She told the judge, “Given the fact [the] Respondent continued to send messages through my website, claims to be the father of my child, showed up to confront me while working in a public place demanding to speak with me alone, it became apparent that he was stalking me.”
The restraining order remains in effect until June 13, 2024.
The question De Laurentiis finds the most annoying
In an appearance in 2018 on Today with Al Roker, De Laurentiis opened up about the one question that really gets to her.
“‘Never trust a skinny chef!’ I mean my entire life, the first thing out of people’s mouth is, ‘How do you stay like that eating all that pasta?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t eat all the pasta! I eat a couple of bites of pasta! [Not] all of it! I eat a little bit of chocolate, I eat a little bit of things. I don’t eat an entire platterful of anything.”
She and Roker discussed how, for people new to the United States, as in Roker’s grandparents’ case, the mark of success was having a table full of food.
“I think in Europe we know how to eat a little bit of everything,” De Laurentiis told Roker. “In America, the portions are ginormous. So no one has learned to eat small amounts of food. We’ve grown up with giant meatballs, all you can eat, and supersized. [It’s] part of the culture.”
