From ‘The Muppet Movie’ to ‘Muppets Most Wanted,’ Here Are a Few Disney+ Movies to Watch Before the Premiere of ‘Muppets Now’

We’re only a few days away from new Muppet content. Thanks to Disney’s streaming platform and the series Muppets Now, fans can see Kermit the Frog, Fozzie, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo on their latest adventures. Fortunately for subscribers, this isn’t the only Muppet show or movie available on Disney+.

From The Muppet Movie to Muppets Most Wanted to Disney Junior’s series Muppet Babies, here are some Muppet projects on Disney’s subscription service.

‘The Muppet Movie’

Released in 2011, The Muppet Movie features a newcomer to the Muppet family, Walter. After stepping back from the stage, The Muppets reunite to save their old studio, which an evil oil baron is trying to take from them.

With the help of a Muppets superfan, named Walter, Kermit the Frog organizes a telethon to raise the funds needed to buy the studio back. There are a few iconic songs along the way, and of course, a few surprises and uplifting messages from Walter. The Muppet Movie is available for streaming on Disney+.

‘Muppets Most Wanted’

What happens when you cross The Muppets with the world’s most dangerous frog? You get the star-studded sequel, Muppets Most Wanted. While they’re on their world tour, following the premiere of The Muppet Movie, the gang comes across a new manager, Dominic Badguy. (Don’t worry, it’s pronounced “badgee.” It’s french.)

Dominic partners with Constantine, a frog who looks eerily similar to Kermit, to steal the crown jewels of the United Kingdom. As a result, Kermit ends up in a Russian gulag and is in a race to protect his friends from Dominic and Constantine.

Disney Junior’s series, titled ‘Muppet Babies’

Little ones in your house? Disney+ has you covered with a number of shows geared towards their younger audience. There’s content created by Disney Junior, including Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Fancy Nancy, and the Muppets-related animated series, Muppet Babies.

Featuring baby versions of characters like Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal, and an introduction to the newest member of the crew, Summer Penguin, this show shows the gang going on playroom adventures.

‘The Muppets Christmas Carol’

If you’re in the mood for a holiday refresher, this is perfect for a “Christmas in July” moment. The Muppets Christmas Carol features everyone’s favorite muppets acting in the classic Charles Dickens holiday story.

Kermit the Frog is Bob Cratchit, Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat are the narrators, and Fozzie Bear is Fozziwig, a version of Fezziwig. There are a few songs and a message of kindness and embracing the holiday spirit.

All of these characters will return for the Disney+ exclusive series, Muppets Now. Muppets Now joins the Disney+ streaming library on July 31. To learn more about this streaming platform and to subscribe, visit their website.
