The Odd Way Tom Holland Learned ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Lines
Tom Holland is most recognized for portraying Peter Parker / Spiderman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And while he may be responsible for saving humankind from extraterrestrial threats, Holland proves himself unreliable when it comes to saving himself from spoiling Marvel scripts.
In the past, Tom Holland revealed the title for his standalone film – Spiderman: Far From Home – before Marvel intended to release the information. Holland also spoiled the ending to Infinity War while introducing a special screening, so it’s clear that the man is not to be trusted with sacred Marvel secrets.
Because Avengers: Endgame is the most-anticipated MCU film to date, the producers and directors behind the production did not share the script with Holland. They left him virtually in the dark concerning the movie’s plot trajectory.
So, if Holland wasn’t given the script, how did he learn his lines for the upcoming Avengers: Endgame movie?
To prep for ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ Tom Holland only received his lines
Speaking on behalf of Tom Holland, co-director Joe Russo stated:
“Tom Holland does not get the script. Tom Holland gets his lines and that’s it. He doesn’t even know who he’s acting opposite of. We’ll just, we use like very vague terms to describe to him what is happening in the scene, because he has a very difficult time keeping his mouth shut.”IndieWire
Based on Joe Russo’s report, it seems that Tom Holland had to act off of assumptions and untidy scene depictions. In summary, he talks to no one and, if he is involved in fight sequences, he punches the air. Knowing this before seeing Avengers: Endgame might add a little excitement to the viewing experience, for now we know – just like us – Tom Holland will be in the dark until he sees his on-screen performance.
Speaking of which, given that Spiderman vanished with the snap, the fact that Holland has lines in the upcoming movie must mean that he comes back; however, with Far From Home on the horizon, this isn’t really a spoiler. On the other hand, those behind Marvel productions always insist that audiences should not assume linear progression when it comes to Marvel films, so Far From Home may occur pre-Endgame.
Tom Holland’s Role in ‘Avengers: Endgame’
Tom Holland is one of the several superheroes that the original saviors will set out to avenge in the upcoming film, so, it’s likely, that most of the “fallen” will not appear for a large portion of the movie; however, this is just speculation.
Those behind Endgame will, to the best of their ability, find a way to surprise audiences with this last film. If they can keep us guessing, they win. So, could it be possible that they have found a way to bring back the fallen at different times, rather than all at once (the latter is the running assumption)? Superfans will have to wait until April 26 ( or later given the recent Fandango debacle) to find out; however, it appears that Tom Holland will at least have a handful of lines in the upcoming installment.
