The One Major Parenting Tip Kate Middleton Took From Princess Diana

Princess Diana has left a huge legacy on the royal family. She was known for being a rebel who often disobeyed palace rules. But, in hindsight, many people can agree that the late princess changed a lot of things for the better.

While Kate Middleton is different in her approach to royal life, there is still one parenting tip that Middleton has picked up from Princess Diana. Read on below to learn about what Middleton is trying to emulate in her late mother-in-law.

Princess Diana wanted her children to understand life outside of the palace

Princess Diana was very much aware that she was the mother of a future monarch. However, that did not mean that she wanted her children to live a sheltered life away from ordinary people. When raising her children, Princess Diana made sure to teach them what the world was really like outside of the palace walls.

Prince William shared in a 2012 interview: “She very much wanted to get us to see the rawness of real life. And I can’t thank her enough for that, ’cause reality bites in a big way, and it was one of the biggest lessons I learned is, just how lucky and privileged so many of us are — particularly myself.”

Princess Diana has been known to bring her kids along to some of her charity work. She also liked to take them out to do activities that other kids did, like getting McDonald’s (and waiting in line), going to the cinema, and hitting the amusement park.

Kate Middleton also wants her children to have a ‘normal’ upbringing

Many people seem to agree that Princess Diana’s parenting skill turned Prince William and Prince Harry into mature, well-adjusted adults. As such, it’s not surprising that Duchess Kate is also taking a tip from Princess Diana’s parenting book. The Duchess of Cambridge is continuing that legacy by making sure that her children with Prince William are given a childhood that as similar to their peers as possible.

“She and William don’t want them to live in a gilded bubble,” an insider told The Sun. “They want them to grow up having the same experiences as other kids.”

The insider added that Middleton’s influence has been her own normal childhood as well as her husband’s. The source said: “Kate is mindful of how much William loved his mother. She was very unstuffy and wanted William and Harry to fit in with their school friends and experience normality. That’s the baton she handed to Kate.”

Kate Middleton has been praised for being a wonderful mother

Middleton seems to shine immensely as a mother. The way she takes care of her young ones has been praised by many people, including Queen Elizabeth.

However, instead of making it seem like an easy job all the time, Middleton has also been open about some struggles she faces while parenting. For example, Prince William once shared that he and his wife lose sleep like many parents.

Additionally, Middleton once admitted that there were a lot of things that she did not understand when she was a new mother. She said: “When I first started out and I’ve learnt a lot in a short period of time working with organizations, I was very naive myself as a parent, of really just how important particularly the early years are for children’s futures.”

Of course, Middleton has clearly learned a lot since then. She currently has three children, so it seems that she is now a pro who can offer lots of valuable advice to new mothers like her sister-in-law Meghan Markle.
