Last year, after Drummond posted an announcement on Instagram about a new line of dog products she released in partnership with Purina, some fans were under the impression she dislikes cats. Many came to this conclusion because Drummond hasn’t released any products for cats yet. She also talks a lot about her dogs.

Some fans weren’t happy with Drummond’s Purina announcement. “I wish you’d do that for cats too!” posted a fan. “Such a lovely idea. Now I wish you would do something for cats too,” wrote another fan. One fan wanted to know if Drummond has something against cats. “Ree, do you not like cats?? Never seen you mention them on your show or ever?”

Ree Drummond posted a sweet message about her ranch cat

It appears Drummond has nothing against felines. She recently took to Instagram to celebrate the return of her adorable ranch cat. He spent time on the Drummond ranch for years, disappeared for a few months, and then suddenly reappeared. Drummond describes him as “the best kitty.” Here’s the message she posted on Instagram after her furry friend returned to the ranch:

I think we’ve had this cat longer than any of our family pets (ranch horses don’t count). Walter may need to fact check me on that. Anyway, for years he lived on our porch (half the time) and our roof (half the time) and he was the best kitty. Then a year and a half ago, he disappeared, and I worried that a country cat fate had befallen him. Didn’t see him once for a year. Then a few months ago, we cleaned out our barn (a huge clean-out, it was long overdue) and that same evening, the kitty was back on our porch, fat and happy, as if nothing had happened.

It seems Ree Drummond’s cat just needed some time alone

Drummond joked her cat just needed a little space. She also spoke about him having a “bachelor pad” and a “man cave” on her ranch. It seems the kitty’s hiding spot was disturbed after Drummond did a big cleaning. He now shares a bed with her Labrador Retriever. Here’s what Drummond said about her kitty:

I guess he needed some space and had set up a bachelor pad in the barn loft for a while. When we cleaned out the barn, we must have disrupted his man cave, and he’s been sharing a dog bed with Duke, our Lab, ever since. Guess he forgot about his old digs on the roof! He’s the kittiest kitty in the world and I love it when he looks into my eyes and soul and brain and heart.
