‘The Pioneer Woman’: Ree Drummond and Her Husband Ladd Show Just How ‘Weirdly Competitive’ They Are and Their Fans Love It

Ree Drummond and her husband Ladd have a sweet relationship that’s full of playful fun and, it turns out, a bit of competition. Ree Drummond said she and Ladd are ‘weirdly competitive’

A little competition in a marriage can be healthy. Ree showed how she and Ladd will spring into competitive mode at a moment’s notice in a video posted on her Instagram account. In the video, they suddenly burst into a race at the hotel they’re staying at on vacation, even blasting past another guest in an effort to win the sprint.

Ree explained their shenanigans in the Instagram post’s caption. “Ladd and I are weirdly competitive,” she wrote. “Not with anything that matters, but definitely with dumb things like racing each other up a random flight of stairs while on vacation. Usually I have no hope of beating him unless I decide to start the race without informing him that there is a race.”

She continued, “Today he was nice enough to open the door for me and I used it as my chance to get a head start. Check out how quickly he reacted, it’s almost like a reflex. Anyway, none of this was a good idea at 8,155 feet. I’m pretty sure I won, not that it matters since I am now dead. Bye.”

Fans loved Ree and Ladd Drummond’s playful moment

Their fans loved seeing Ree and Ladd spontaneously break into a race in public and shared their thoughts in the Instagram post’s comments. “This is the REAL stuff that makes up a marriage! Beautiful!,” one fan commented. Others shared comments such as, “Never stop having fun,” “So funny! Keep on playing!,” and “You couldn’t possibly be more adorable.”

Other fans were thrilled to see Ladd in top shape after his recent accident. “Glad to see him running up stairs without a neck brace!! Major answered prayers!!,” one fan wrote. Ree answered, “Absolutely.”

Another person commented, “Cutest couple ever. Try to beat a guy healing from a broken neck” and Ree said, “Haha, I need every edge I can get!”

“And he just recovered from a broken neck??!!!,” another fan marveled. Ree confirmed, “Yeah, he’s kind of a tough dude.”

Ree Drummond said she and her husband don’t agree about 1 big thing

Ree also shared an interesting debate she and her husband had while road tripping to Colorado. She packed snacks for the trip, including jerky, but Ladd wasn’t impressed with the way her dried meat snack choice was tender and “juicy.”

Ree wrote about it on her Pioneer Woman blog, explaining that she discovered she and Ladd didn’t see eye-to-eye on this important matter of jerky preference.

“You’d think you’d know a person after 25 years of marriage. Their likes, dislikes, preferences, idiosyncrasies, opinions, desires, and beliefs,” Ree wrote. “But during our nine-hour drive to our marital vacation in Colorado Saturday, I discovered something about my spouse that has rocked me to my core.”

She explained, “Ladd doesn’t like the same kind of beef jerky I like. And he feels really strongly about it.”

At their next stop, Ladd picked up his preferred jerky and Ree gave it a taste. It definitely wasn’t “juicy.”

“It’s super dry and tough to tear, to the extent that you really have to clamp down with your teeth and pull hard to separate it — and yes, you do have to kind of chew it and chew it and chew it, and by the time I’d finished my first big test bite, I felt like a wolf,” she wrote.

She said she found herself taking bites of it during their ride, however. Even if it was tough to chew, it was “actually pretty delicious,” Ree explained.
