Back in 2018, Drummond shared a tribute to her late mother-in-law, Nan Drummond. In her Instagram post, she described Nan as her friend, among all the other titles listed. Here’s the message Drummond posted on her page:

Nan. My mother-in-law, my husband’s mom, my children’s grandmother, my friend. We lost her last night, and I’m not sure any of us know quite what we’re going to do without her. She was magnificent.

Drummond also posted a longer tribute on her blog, The Pioneer Woman. She took time to express her gratitude for Nan. “It’s a difficult loss for our family, as she was such a rock for all of us. We all had some time to prepare for this, though I’ve found over the course of the past few days that nothing really prepares you for losing someone who is so much a part of the fabric of your family’s daily life… She was a quiet, steady force and lived a faith-filled life. She loved her family.”

In the summer issue of “The Pioneer Woman” magazine, Drummond spoke about what it was like to meet Ladd’s family for the first time. Drummond said she tends to sweat, and when she met Ladd’s family, it was during the summer. Consequently, she had what she calls a “sweating attack.” We’re guessing she was also nervous about meeting them, so that could have contributed to the sweat. Here’s her hilarious story:

I admit it: I’m a sweater. I go to great lengths to stay cool–including the first time I met Ladd’s family. It was at a wedding in August and I was wearing a lightweight wool dress! I had a sweating attack and darted into the nearest bathroom, where I took off all my clothes and stood on a toilet under an AC vent to cool down. Since then I have learned to embrace the dewiness that comes with Oklahoma summers.

Ree and Ladd work hard to keep their marriage strong. Ree says one marriage tip she tries to stick to is refraining from going to bed angry. Here’s what she told “Parade” magazine:

Ladd and I try not to go to bed with a disagreement still pending. I always make a joke that if our feet touch before we go to sleep, then everything’s fine. We have the same primary love language, which is quality time, and we do our best to have that time as much as we can at the end of the day. We try not to let that fall by the wayside because we do our best when we’re together.
