The Real Reason Chris Brown is Suing the Woman Who Claimed He Assaulted Her

Singer Chris Brown is no stranger to having run-ins with the law. But this latest arrest might be one of his most serious.

On Monday, January 21st, Brown was arrested along with two other men after a woman claimed that she was assaulted in a hotel in Paris earlier this month. He was detained until Tuesday.

Upon his release from jail, Brown took to social media to express his innocence.

“I want to make it perfectly clear, this is false,” Brown captioned a photo on Instagram.

He also stated that what the woman was claiming that he did was completely against his character and morals.

But Brown isn’t just relying on Instagram to clear his name. According to reports from TMZ, he will be pursuing legal action against the woman.

“Chris Brown is free,” Raphael Chiche, Brown’s lawyer in Paris told the outlet. “No lawsuits were filed against him. He vigorously challenges the charges against him. A complaint for slanderous denunciation will be filed tomorrow with the public prosecutor of Paris.”

What Actually Happened

The woman who accused Brown of assault claims that she met the singer and two other men on January 15th at a club in the center of Paris, according to the BBC. After meeting Brown, she says that the three of them went back to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, which was nearby. While there, she says that Brown assaulted her.

The woman who has only been identified as Karima spoke to French magazine Closer about the assault. She says that Brown pulled her into a hotel closet and violently attacked her for half an hour.

She said that she had been in the hotel with about 15 other women when he pulled her into a closet as she was walking to the bathroom.

“It’s still too difficult for me to explain in detail what he did to me,” she said. “But it was brutal and violent. He was menacing and aggressive. I was very afraid.”

After the alleged assault, the woman claims that one of his friends appeared. She thought that the man was there to take her home. Instead of helping her leave, she says that he took her into a room and abused her. She went on to say that Brown’s bodyguard also joined in and assaulted her as well.

The Paris prosecutor’s office has said that Brown will not face any charges at this time. The investigation on the assault is still ongoing in this case, but Brown is still vehemently claiming his innocence.

Other Assault Cases

This isn’t Brown’s first assault case. In 2016, he was also arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The arrest came after a woman told police that she was threatened with a gun by Brown.

He was released shortly after being arrested.

Both Brown and his lawyer claimed that the allegations against him were completely false.
