The Real Reason Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Likely Won’t Spend Valentine’s Day Together

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still experiencing all of their first holidays as husband and wife. They recently spent their first married Christmas and New Year together — and next up is Valentine’s Day. But according to royal insiders, Meghan and Harry might not actually spend the holiday together. Here’s why.

Meghan and Harry were together on Valentine’s Day last year

Meghan and Harry had a whirlwind romance. The two met in 2016, and by 2017, they had announced their engagement. The following spring, the two tied the knot in a televised ceremony. And just a few months later, Meghan announced her pregnancy. But before all of that, the two did get to spend a few Valentine’s Days together. In 2018, the couple spent the day before the holiday doing charity work in Edinburgh, Scotland. Although they didn’t disclose how they spent the actual holiday, the two were definitely in each other’s company. But that was back before they married, and things were different.

This year, Prince Harry’s royal duties will likely keep the couple apart

Prince Harry is the Duke of Sussex. And now that he’s wed and received his official royal title, the royal duties won’t slow down. According to Cosmopolitan, the palace has just revealed that he’ll be traveling on Valentine’s Day this year to perform duties related to his role as Captain General of the Royal Marines. The visit reportedly entails attending an annual training exercise along with meeting and mingling with the military personnel. Meanwhile, Meghan will remain at home.

Meghan is pregnant, which might be why she isn’t traveling with him

Meghan and Harry had mentioned wanting to start a family soon after they wed. The couple got married in May of last year, and by October, the palace had announced the two were expecting a baby the following Spring. Assuming Meghan was at least three months along, that means the two started their family just a few months after they wed. But with Meghan’s due date approaching quickly, she hasn’t traveled much recently. That means she most likely won’t be attending the event with Harry. Unfortunately, it also means the two won’t spend Valentine’s Day together. Plus, the two aren’t always going to be in each other’s company for royal duties; there will be things they have to do on their own.

Meghan has limited her traveling since getting pregnant

Right after Meghan and Harry announced the pregnancy, they departed on a tour to places such as New Zealand and Australia. Meghan was pregnant, but she didn’t quite have a baby bump just yet (unless you looked very, very closely). But since then, the Duchess has tried to limit traveling. There hasn’t been any word on whether she was instructed by doctors to do so, but she may just be trying to take it easy, since this is her first pregnancy. She has also missed several events for royal family members, including Kate Middleton’s birthday party. She also did not attend Priyanka Chopra’s wedding to Nick Jonas; Priyanka and Meghan have been best friends for a while. It doesn’t look like Meghan will be on the road with her husband on Valentine’s Day, but we hope they’ll make up for it next year.
