The Real Reason Princess Beatrice Was Forced to Attend Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas Lunch Alone Without Her Fiance
Princess Beatrice’s name has been in the headlines a lot lately due to the fact that she is the next royal family member set to get married and also because of the drama surrounding her father, Prince Andrew.
Because of the interest and curiosity about the York family at the moment, royal fans have been following the princess’ every move. So on Dec. 18, when Queen Elizabeth II held her annual Christmas lunch, it didn’t go unnoticed that Beatrice’s fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, was not by her side.
This left fans speculating if there is trouble in paradise or if Mozzi just doesn’t want to be around Beatrice’s dad now. Read on to find out the real reason he wasn’t in attendance.
Why Mozzi wasn’t at the luncheon
The reason Mozzi wasn’t at Her Majesty festive event had nothing to do with Beatrice’s father and it’s also not a sign that their relationship is in trouble. The property developer didn’t go to the event because, according to The Express, he wasn’t invited.
The queen’s children and grandchildren attend this lunch ahead of the holiday with their spouses. Since Mozzi and Beatrice didn’t tie the knot yet, he didn’t get an invite.
Next Christmas though we can expect him to be at the luncheon with the rest of the royal family.
Beatrice’s father skipped a party after lunch
Although he wasn’t invited to the queen’s annual event, Mozzi reunited with his bride-to-be later that night for their engagement party.
That affair was attended by a number of the couple’s friends and family including celebrities like Ellie Goulding, James Blunt, and Robert De Niro. Kate Middleton along with her siblings, Pippa and James, were there as was Beatrice’s mother, Sarah Ferguson.
However, Prince Andrew was not attendance. It’s believed that the Duke of York stayed away because of the ongoing controversy surrounding him following his disastrous BBC interview about his association with Jeffery Epstein.
The party was thrown by Mozzi’s mother and was held at the Chiltern Firehouse bar and restaurant in London.
When the princess and Mozzi are getting married
Beatrice and Mozzi are getting married in 2020 and while the exact date hasn’t been announced yet royal insiders claim that it will take place in early June. An official announcement of when it will be is expected the second week of January. Unlike royal weddings of the past, this one will be privately funded.
When the news broke in September that the pair was engaged, they released a statement that said: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married. We share so many similar interests and values, and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
The post also mentioned that the princess’ mother and father were delighted over the news. Now though royal fans are wondering just how visible Prince Andrew will be the day of his oldest daughter’s wedding.
