The Real Reason Wendy Williams Had to File for Divorce From Kevin Hunter
After weeks of wondering, “will she or won’t she,” Wendy Williams has filed for divorce. The move comes after her husband, Kevin Hunter’s alleged mistress Sharina Hudson, gave birth to a baby girl last month.
Though the talk show host initially told her audience that she was sticking by her man, their marriage reached a point where Williams had no other option but to walk away.
Williams took a break from the show earlier this year
The talk show host has had her share of health problems over the past several months. Last year, Williams was diagnosed with Graves disease. The diagnosis led her to take a few months off earlier this year to manage her disease. She also suffered from a fractured shoulder after a fall on the show.
Williams returned to the show after her shoulder injury but did so under the influence of pain medication. Consequently, the talk show host slurred her words during the show and had many worried about her mental state. Williams acknowledged the issue and apologized to fans for her poor performance, noting that her pain medication caused her show to suffer.
She recently checked herself into a sober house
In addition to her health problems, Williams recently admitted that she has been staying in a sober house. She told her audience that she is dealing with a substance abuse issue and the sober house helps her stay on track.
The talk show host has previously struggled with a cocaine addiction, but did not reveal whether she was battling the same drug. She told her audience, “Once you’re a substance abuser, you have to battle that the rest of your life.”
She revealed that the only person that knew that she was staying in the sober house was her husband. Not even her parents knew about her treatment.
Her husband’s infidelity rumors recently resurfaced
In 2017, rumors circulated that Hunter was having an affair with Hudson. This wasn’t the first time that the Wendy Williams Show producer was accused of having an affair. Early in their marriage, the talk show host revealed that her husband had cheated on her before, but she chose to stand by her man.
This time, the rumors suggested that Hunter had been seeing Hudson for nearly a decade. Though the speculation first began in 2017, the rumors really gained traction after Williams revealed that she was staying in a sober house. The chatter became so bad that Williams felt she had to address.
The talk show host told her audience, “He’s my best friend, he’s my lover, he’s all this and he’s all that… Anybody who’s been married for five minutes or 500 years, you know marriages have ebbs and flows. Marriages are not easy.”
She went on to tell her audience that they shouldn’t assume anything’s different until they see her take her ring off.
She suffered a major setback
Williams appeared to be on the road to recovery with a handle on the drama around her until March 25.
The talk show host had to be checked into a hospital after becoming intoxicated. Williams reportedly checked out of her sober house and stopped to get some liquor. Those close to her were reportedly unable to find her, leaving them very worried. Williams was taken to the hospital when she was found later that day.
Williams’ hospitalization came shortly after the news broke that Hudson gave birth to a baby girl. The presumption is that hearing that her husband allegedly fathered a child with another woman caused her to react in a destructive manner.
Though Williams was hospitalized, she returned to work two days later, reportedly in good spirits.
Divorce is the best thing for Williams
Fans of the talk show host have seen Williams very rapidly spiral out of control these past few months. Williams has struggled to control her addiction and manage her health issues. Her marriage issues have only seemed to make her recovery more difficult.
A divorce seems to be the best thing that Williams can do for her deteriorating health. Hunter is the executive producer of The Wendy Williams Show so a divorce will likely lead to one of them buying out the rights to the show.
This means that there will be a drastic change to her work and home environment.
Hopefully, this separation will allow Williams to gain independence from Hunter and focus on her road to recovery.
