The Real Reason YK Osiris Was Arrested
Through his increasingly popular rap and R&B songs, YK Osiris was beginning to gain a following. The upward trajectory of his career is in question now that he reportedly assaulted his girlfriend. Here are the details behind this case.
YK Osiris’ career beginnings
YK Osiris is a Florida rapper who began releasing music in 2018. Since then, he has gained some popularity due to his song “Worth It.” He was also able to collaborate with several major rappers including Chance the Rapper, Gucci Mane, and DaBaby on a minor hit called “Gospel.”
Lil Uzi Vert also remixed several of Osiris’ songs, further raising his profile. Heavy.com said he was even selected as part of the XXL Freshman Class 2019, which is one of the most prestigious accolades that could be bestowed on a new rapper. He even boasted “I’m the king of RNB of this generation. Hands down just wait and y’all will know why it’s facts #NEW #KING.”
YK Osiris booked for assault
According to Billboard, Osiris was booked in Fulton County, Georgia, following an incident that happened on September 7 at the rappers’ twenty-first birthday party. BET said the altercation began after his girlfriend found an image on his phone of another woman wearing nothing but a towel. Osiris and his girlfriend began to argue, with the rapper allegedly telling his girlfriend “I am going to slap the sh*t out of you.”
The report says that Osiris then chased his girlfriend up a flight of stairs into a bathroom. She claims that the rapper bit her face before proceeding to choke her. She says that she bit him in return in order to get him to leave her alone. The report says that Osiris’ girlfriend had a mark under her eye where she was supposedly bitten. Following his arrest, the rapper was denied bond.
This would not be the first time that Osiris has committed a crime. The rapper admitted to breaking the law, saying “When I was 14, 13 years old. . . I was hardheaded, going to jail, back and forth, man, stealing, robbing. I was trying to be cool. I be trying to fit in. I was trying to survive at the same time. I was trying to get what I want to get in life. If I can’t get it that way, I’m gonna get it this way. That’s how I felt about it, and if you didn’t give it to me I’m going to get it.”
What effect will this have on his career?
At this point, it is unclear how long Osiris will remain in jail. Music fans will have to wait and see if the length of his incarceration interferes with his ability to record and release new music. Even if his time in jail is brief, it’s unclear if the music buying public will be willing to purchase his songs following this altercation.
