The Reason Britney Spears Checked Herself into a Wellness Facility

Britney Spears is taking some time for herself this week.

The singer reportedly checked herself into a wellness facility to take care of herself amid her dad’s recovery for his ruptured colon.

A source told People that while at the facility, the singer will receive “all-encompassing wellness treatments.”

“Britney just needed to focus on herself,” another source told the outlet. “Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her. He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He’s not doing well. They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her — she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself.”

Yesterday, Spears announced on Instagram that she was taking some “me time.”

What happened to Spears’ dad?

In January, Spears took to social media to announce that she was canceling her Domination Las Vegas residency in order to take care of her father.

“I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say,” she tweeted, along with a picture of her as a child with her parents. “I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart.”

She went on to describe why she made the decision that she did.

“However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make,” she wrote. “A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him.”

She directed her fans to where they could get refunds for their tickets and thanked them for their continued support.

“I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time,” she finished. “Thank you, and love you all… always.”

Spears’ recent tours

The Domination Las Vegas residency was set to begin in February at the Park Theater at Park MGM.

This was the follow up to her previous Britney: Piece of Me residency and tour which grossed over $100 million by Jan. 2017, according to People.

Fans reactions to the tour cancellation

Though fans were upset that they wouldn’t be able to see their star perform, many of them sent their condolences.

“Hey B, I lost my father a few weeks ago & want you to know that he and I went to your show together & he loved it,” one fan wrote. “Thanks for this memory! Take all the time you need, your fans will be here when you’re ready to return to the stage. Sending love!”

Others reaffirmed the singer’s decision to take time off.

“You will NEVER regret the time you’ll take to care for your father,” another person wrote. “It’s frustrating, sometimes hard to navigate the medical circus, but rewarding at the same time. Do not apologize for your decision!”

Many were quick to offer the star prayers and support.

“Sorry to hear about your dad’s condition, let’s pray and hope his recovery will go well soon,” one user tweeted. “Family is everything, so take your time. Nothing else matters. Sending you lots of love and strength.”
