Why was Nipsey at his store when shot?

In true Nipsey form, the rapper was at his store to help a friend when he was shot.

According to TMZ, Nipsey had just learned that his friend was released from prison after serving a 20-year sentence. Nipsey wanted to make sure that the ex-con looked good when he finally saw his friends and famil again so he went to meet up with his friend at the clothing store.

The decision was so last minute that the artist didn’t even tell his security guard or his team that he was going.

Nipsey and his friend were in the parking lot when Eric Holder shot them, killing Nipsey and injuring two others.

Did Nipsey predict his death?

The Grammy-nominated artist was reportedly paranoid before his murder. He had hired extra security for his “Higher” video shoot as he was scared that someone would try to kill him on set, according to reports from TMZ.

At the shoot, he had ten armed police officers in attendance to guard him.

The production crew also tried to have the parking deck that was used for the shoot shut down while Nipsey was using it but the lower levels of the deck remained open for the public.

Hours before the rapper died, he tweeted “Having strong enemies is a blessing.”

Reactions to Nipsey’s death

Fans and celebrities have all been distraught at the death of the 33-year-old rapper.

“RIP Nipsey,” John Legend who was on the video set with Nipsey tweeted. “I just spent Thursday with him filming a video for a beautiful new song we created with Khaled. We filmed in Inglewood, close to where he grew up. He was so gifted, so proud of his home, so invested in his community. Utterly stunned that he’s gone so soon.”

Radio personality Ebro Darden also commented on the situation.

“Hip-Hop aside…Nipsey was a Father,” Darden tweeted. “A Husband. A Son. A Brother. A community leader. He was a human and other humans need him. He worked hard. He never asked for handouts. He wanted to learn & be great in every aspect of his being.#RIPNipseyHussle You are a legend Soldier.”

Even Rihanna took to Twitter to express her condolences.

“This doesn’t make any sense!” she wrote. “My spirit is shaken by this! Dear God may His spirit Rest In Peace and May You grant divine comfort to all his loved ones! I’m so sorry this happened to you @nipseyhussle.”

But none were more devastated than Nipsey’s longtime girlfriend Lauren London.

“I am completely lost,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’ve lost my best friend, my sanctuary, my protector, my soul….I’m lost without you. We are lost without you babe. I have no words.”
