When Will Season 3 of ‘The Sinner’ Premiere on USA?

When The Sinner Season 1, starring Jessica Beil, premiered on USA Network, it received critical acclaim with its dark and compelling storyline rounding out an amazing cast. No one thought that the show would return for a second season since it had used up the material from the original book.

However, season 2 of The Sinner received even better reviews and solidified the show as an engrossing thriller series that would stick around. Beil was not on-screen in the subsequent season but instead served as executive producer.

With a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the show was quickly picked up for a third season. Let’s take a look at when season 3 of The Sinner will return to USA and what murder Detective Ambrose (Bill Pullman) will be figuring out next.

When will ‘The Sinner’ Season 3 premiere?

The Sinner was picked up by USA in March 2019 for a third season, with Matt Bomer to star along with Pullman. This will mark Bomer’s return to USA since he established himself as a leading actor in White Collar, which ran for six seasons and earned him a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable Actor.

USA announced last week that The Sinner will return in 2020. They did not give a definitive month that it would premiere, but they have already released a trailer.

Season 2 was renewed in March 2018 and then premiered its first episode in August of 2018. We can surmise that the return will be in early 2020 since the second season was turned around so quickly after being renewed.

What can we expect from season 3 of ‘The Sinner’?

When Pullman returns as Detective Ambrose in the third season he will uncover a hidden crime during a routine traffic investigation of a fatal car accident in Dorchester, New York.

Bomer will play Jamie, a model Dorchester citizen who is an expectant father and will look to Ambrose for support after the accident.

Bomer follows Biel and Carrie Coon, who starred opposite Ambrose in the first and second season of The Sinner, respectively.

Who else will join the cast of ‘The Sinner’ in season 3?

Because each season of The Sinner is a self-contained story, an entirely brand new cast is chosen every time, with the exception of Detective Ambrose.

In the third season, Chris Messina stars as Nick Haas who is one of Jamie’s college friends. Nick returns unexpectedly for a visit and somehow turns around Chris’s life.

Jessica Hecht plays Sonya, who becomes involved in the investigation when the car accident occurs on her property.

Eddie Martinez joins the cast as a rising detective who works the case alongside Ambrose.

Lastly, Parisa Fitz-Henley stars as Leela Burns, Jamie’s pregnant wife.

Look for The Sinner on the USA Network in early 2020 to see what happens with the fatal and mysterious car crash in Dorchester, New York.
