The Subtle Lie About How ‘The Bachelor’ is Filmed Drives Fans Crazy
Over the years, reality TV shows have become increasingly popular. It doesn’t seem to matter what the show is about; there’s just something so captivating about watching real people living their lives. This statement is especially true when you add the romance and heartbreak that is found in The Bachelor. Since its inception in 2002, millions of fans have loyally tuned in every season to watch the drama unfold in front of the camera.
While reality shows are very entertaining to watch, they can also be riddled with lies. This is also true for The Bachelor. While viewers have come to accept the fact that we are being deceived at some points, there are a few lies that fans just can’t handle. What deceptive practices does The Bachelor have that drives fans crazy? Keep reading to find out.
‘The Bachelor’ mansion is actually someone’s house

If you thought that the iconic mansion that The Bachelor was filmed at was owned by the show, think again. According to Cosmopolitan, the house is actually owned by man named Marshall Harden. He and his family currently live in the home, and twice a year, they pack up and move out for a couple of months so that The Bachelor and The Bachelorette can be filmed there. The mansion is around 7,500 square feet and sits on 10 acres of land in Malibu.
Not only does The Bachelor borrow the mansion for their show, but they also decorate it to meet their taste. Cosmopolitan had reported that when the production team first gets to the house, they apply a fresh coat of paint to the inside of it. The color of paint depends on what show they are filming there at the time. The Bachelor and The Bachelorette get their own unique color paint.
It hard to say how much time the Harden family actually gets to spend at their home because in addition to The Bachelor, there have also been a few commercials filmed at the house.
The Fantasy Suite dates don’t happen as quickly as you think
On the show, the bachelor/ette will pick a contestant to spend a night with in a romantic and lavish setting. Then, the next night, he or she will do the same thing with another contestant. However, according to Insider, these dates don’t actually happen on consecutive nights.
The author of It’s Not Okay: Turning Heartbreak Into Happy New After, Andi Dorfman said: “What people likely don’t realize is that the Fantasy Suites are stretched out over a two-week timespan. It does come in one quick episode, but it isn’t back-to-back like viewers see.”
The spacing out between dates gives the star time to unwind and relax between dates. Otherwise having several overnight dates in the same week with multiple people may be a bit overwhelming. Also, the revolving bedroom door may be a little awkward for the contestants too. But then again, because they are dating a person who is also dating 20 other people, they may become accustomed to awkwardness.
There is a lot of wasted food
One thing that really seems to drive fans crazy is the fact that the cast members never seem to eat their food when they are on a date. This is because the show actually makes sure that everyone is properly fed before they go on the date.
Jaclyn Swartz, a former contestant on The Bachelor had once said: “The food on dates is usually good, but the catch is that you aren’t suppose to eat it! No one wants to see people stuffing their face on a date. If you’re eating, you aren’t talking.”
While they don’t get to eat on the date, the production team does make sure that every contestant is well-fed. The fridge in the mansion maintains well-stocked throughout the entire filming process, and for the most part, contestants can eat as much as they want.
