The Surprising Reason Prince Harry Went ‘Ballistic’ on Prince William When He Was Dating Meghan Markle

The rumored feud between Prince Harry and Prince William was believed to have started when Harry was dating Meghan Markle. While it’s been reported before that William gave Harry some well-meaning advice about not rushing into things, according to a new documentary, Prince Harry was really upset with his brother.

Why their feud started

A new royal documentary claims to have all the details of the brothers’ feud. Titled William & Harry: Princes at War, naturally there’s a deep dive of experts weighing in with what went down between the princes and how the whole feud kicked off.

According to reports, Prince Harry had some concerns that Prince William and Kate Middleton didn’t really welcome Markle into the family, but there’s an additional heated element to the story, as Prince Harry reportedly went “ballistic” when William tried to discuss the relationship with him.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward noted: “It was all so quick that William and Kate didn’t have a moment to get to know Meghan because Harry hardly knew Meghan.”

She continued, “And, of course, quite naturally William and Kate would have thought, ‘Oh, she’s been married before, she’s older than Harry, I hope she’s going to make him happy.’ Anyone would think that.”

Sky News broadcaster Carole Malone noted how William approached the subject with Harry, advising him not to rush into things. Malone explained: “The biggest cause of their so-called rift was Wills tried to warn Harry when he met Meghan not to rush into it. He’d only known her for less than a year when they got engaged. He sat him down and just told him to take it a bit slow, not to run at it.”

Harry reportedly ‘went ballistic’

The Sun’s royal correspondent Emily Andrews further reported that all of this didn’t go over well with Prince Harry who, she claims, “went ballistic and said, ‘You’re trying to wreck this relationship before it’s even started.'”

Royal reporter Katie Nicholl elaborated on why William’s perceived meddling with his relationship with Markle didn’t sit well, as he had been very supportive of his brother. Nicholl shared that “the dynamic changed, that there was a shift and it was largely down to Harry resenting his brother.”

She noted: “Harry supported William from the outset of his relationship with Kate and he felt very let down that he wasn’t getting his brother’s full 100 percent support with the relationship with Meghan.”

Are the brothers still feuding?

An entire documentary focused on the “princes at war” would indicate that things are still not good between the brothers. The couples split their households this year, with Prince Harry and Markle moving to Frogmore Cottage. They also split from their joint charity so each couple could focus on their own projects.

There has certainly been plenty of evidence to support that the brothers aren’t as close as they once were, but a source told Us Weekly earlier this year that “Working together on the household division brought them together.”

The insider added: “William was very supportive of Harry’s wants and needs for the new Sussex office and helped [Harry and Meghan] where he could. It was a great way for them to come together and focus on positive goals.”
