The Sweet Meaning Behind Meghan Markle’s New Ring

Jewelry isn’t just an accessory. It is often a symbol. For instance, wedding rings symbolize the love and commitment that two people have for each other for the rest of their lives.

With the royals, a piece of jewelry is never just a fashion choice. Meghan Markle and the rest of the royal family often use their jewelry to make statements or to pay homage to royals that have passed on, like Princess Diana.

So when Markle debuted a new ring at Trooping the Color, people wondered what it meant.

The meaning behind Markle’s new ring

Markle’s newest piece of jewelry is an eternity ring that she wears next to her wedding band and engagement ring.

The ring was an anniversary gift from Prince Harry, according to People.

Eternity rings are a blatant symbol of everlasting love. They are typically gifted following a significant event. Given that Markle just gave birth to her and Harry’s first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, and they just celebrated their first marriage anniversary, a gift was certainly in order.

Markle now joins her sister-in-law Kate Middleton as the owner of an eternity ring, as Middleton received one from Prince William after giving birth to Prince George.

Is Markle allowed to wear the Queen’s jewelry?

Jewelry has been a hot topic when it comes to Markle, as earlier this year, reports came out that the Queen was refusing to let Markle wear her jewelry.

Those reports turned out to be completely false.

“The Duchess has worn pieces from the Royal Collection before so why would that stop now?” a source told Vanity Fair in April. In fact, Markle even wore the Queen Mary diamond bandeau from the Queen’s collection on her wedding day, so it wouldn’t make sense for her to be banned all of a sudden.

“I find it very unlikely,” the source said of the Queen banning Markle. “It’s not the kind of thing the Queen would do. She is very generous when it comes to lending jewels to her family.”

Where can you get infinity rings?

When it comes to royal jewelry, the items are usually not the easiest to get your hands on, unless, of course, you are the Duchess of some foreign country. But even if you don’t have a royal budget, you can find an infinity ring just like the ones that Markle and Middleton wear.

These rings can be used to celebrate any momentous event.

“We like the idea of collecting special moments through a stack on your finger,” Jenna Wise, co-founder of Stone Set, told Refinery29.

“It’s something you can build,” added co-founder Emerald Carroll. “It’s a fun way to start a collection, a way to reward yourself.”

Etsy has a number of infinity rings available for as low as $30. Stella and Dot also has several options if you want to keep your price point under $50. Of course, if you are willing to spend a little extra money, Nordstrom has a variety of gorgeous rings in the $100-$200 range.

No matter which ring you choose, you will be well on your way to looking like a royal.
