The Sweet Reason Kate Middleton Wears This Ring Every Day

Kate Middleton has become a bit of a fashion icon over the years and frequently wears dazzling pieces of jewelry befitting a member of the royal family. But there is one item she never leaves home without: her diamond and sapphire engagement ring. Here is the sweet reason why Kate wears her engagement ring every single day.

How Kate Middleton got her engagement ring

Prince William and Kate Middleton originally met when they were attending St. Andrew’s University in the early 2000s. In the years following their graduation, William and Kate became very close with his younger brother, Prince Harry.

After Princess Diana’s tragic death in 1997, William and Harry were allowed to pick one item from her jewelry collection to keep. Harry selected his mother’s engagement ring, presumably to give his future wife.

But with William prepared to propose to Kate in 2010, Harry kindly offered him their late mother’s engagement ring. As a side note, William selected a gold watch from Diana’s collection.

The gesture allowed William to honor his mother’s memory and Kate Middleton was super thrilled to be wearing one of Diana’s pieces. The ring, of course, had to be modified to fit Kate, but they kept its original look.

Although the ring is iconic, it was presented to Diana with a bit of controversy. When he proposed to Diana, Prince Charles did not have the ring custom made, which is usually a tradition in the royal family.

Middleton also wears her Welsh gold wedding band and a diamond eternity band every with her engagement ring every day.

The Duchess of Cambridge never wears this ring

While Kate is always spotted wearing her engagement ring, there is one ring she has not been seen wearing since her engagement in 2010.

When they were still attending classes at St. Andrews, William gave Kate a rose gold band. According to Express, Kate wore the ring on her right hand’s middle finger and hardly ever took it off.

The ring also featured Prince William and Kate Middleton’s birthstones, which added to its overall significance.

While Kate was very fond of the band, she has not worn it in public since her engagement. It is unclear why she does not wear the ring, though perhaps her stunning engagement ring is good enough.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tied the knot in 2011 inside Westminster Abbey. They now share three children together: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

A look at Kate Middleton’s perfect accessory

Aside from her famous rings, Kate has gained a reputation for always choosing the perfect accessory.

During a recent charity event, for example, Kate rocked a dark blue gown from Emilia Wickstead’s collection. The Duchess of Cambridge completed her look with Jimmy Choo pumps and a gorgeous set of sapphire and diamond earrings.

Like her engagement ring, the items used to belong to Diana, though Kate modernized them a bit by only wearing one of the gems.

This, of course, is not the first time Kate Middleton has worn the earrings. She has donned them on several occasions, mostly because they go with her engagement ring perfectly. But they also serve as yet another tribute to Diana’s memory – which is a nice gesture from Kate.

William and Kate host a private event

This month, William and Kate were forced to cancel their appearance at the Tusk Awards in London. While the two could not attend the event, they did meet some of the nominees at their home inside Kensington Palace.

They shared photos and one video of the meeting on social media, offering royal watchers a rare look inside their home. This includes some shots of the couple’s drawing room, which had a slew of paintings and interesting architectural features.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have shared photos of their house on several occasions. Most notably, the two posted images of their meeting with President Barack Obama and his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama. The meeting took place inside their apartment.

But unlike the most recent photos, we did not get a good look at the interior rooms. Instead, most of the shots were close-ups of the couple exchanging pleasantries.

Kate Middleton has not commented on the reports surrounding her jewelry collection.
