The Sweet Way Prince Harry Used to Flirt With Meghan Markle
Long before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were expecting their brand new baby, they were just getting to know each other. Like many couples, they began their relationship while still living at opposite ends of the world from each other.
Markle was a successful Hollywood actress and Prince Harry was one of the most scrutinized people in the world, with his every move tracked by media cameras. Still, they managed to find common ground and connect in an unexpectedly relatable way. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are a perfect match, but how did it all start?
How did they meet?
As with many great love stories, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s began with a chance encounter. They first met each other when they were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend. While they have not revealed the friend’s name in order to protect her privacy, there is speculation that it was either fashion designer Mischa Nonoo or Prince Harry’s longtime pal, Violet von Westenholz.
Regardless of who exactly introduced the pair, sparks flew from their very first meeting. According to Prince Harry, he knew
Social media helped Prince Hary flirt
Apparently, social media might have played a part in establishing their connection during those early days. During that time, Meghan Markle was still active on social media and maintained Twitter and Instagram accounts in order to share her latest projects and interact with her fans. According to some reports, Prince Harry even operated a secret Instagram account in order to follow Markle. The same report claims that Prince Harry would comment on her posts with adorable emojis and secret messages, a way of flirting with Markle that was for her alone to understand.
Does the royal family use social media?
In general, the royal family steers clear of social media. While there doesn’t seem to be any strict rules established regarding whether they can use social media, it seems as though their avoidance stems from a desire to protect their privacy. Markle, of course, shut down all of her social media accounts before marrying Prince Harry. Reportedly, the reason wasn’t because of palace guidelines, but simply to try and keep her life with Prince Harry away from extra scrutiny. Kate Middleton, another royal family member without social media, has spoken out against the public obsession with social media, saying that it can become addictive, and too much a part of one’s life.
Middleton’s concerns seem to have merit. The public’s obsession with Meghan Markle isn’t always positive, and due to the uptick in online hatred directed towards the Duchess of Sussex, the palace recently posted some guidelines to try and monitor the hate Markle has been receiving. Though the majority of royal family followers seem to genuinely love Markle, the few rabid online trolls that took it over the edge necessitated action from the royal family.
However, the palace does have several verified accounts that frequently share the public comings and goings of all royal family members. The accounts primarily seem in place to raise awareness about various social issues the Royals are involved with, rather than sharing any specific details about their personal lives. The Queen herself even joined Instagram recently, in a news-making move. Overall, the royal family’s stance on social media seems to be all about balance – sharing relevant information while still keeping the majority of their lives private.
