It looks like the host’s work schedule is the biggest reason why she will be leaving the talk show. She talked a little bit about that in her announcement.

This is something that I have been struggling with for a while, and going back and forth, but I’ve decided that it’s time for me to leave the show at the end of this season,” she said on the show according to Page Six.

She continued, “I obviously love it here, and like I said, this was extremely difficult. Last season, I did The Conners and was also producing and [hosted] here. I loved it and felt totally empowered, but also, if I’m being honest about it, my life was slightly out of balance. I wasn’t able to spend as much time with my three kids as I’d like, or take time for myself.”

Gilbert wants to do things in her personal life

The mother of three made note that her personal life has also taken a hit by being so busy. She hopes this change will remedy that. Gilbert talked about one of the things she hasn’t managed to do.

“My youngest is 4 years old and I still haven’t made his baby book,” revealed Gilbert. “My daughter is looking at hers last night and I was like ‘Ahhh! He’s gonna figure it out soon.'”

She plans to produce and act more in the future

What are Gilbert’s plans now? Well, she has produced with The Talk, the revival of Roseanne, and now The Conners. She said she wants to do more of that.

“As I’ve continued on, I’m starting to develop more things to produce, and I’m having opportunities to act,” said Gilbert. “I don’t know how I’m going to do it all. I’m looking at the next six months and thinking, ‘There’s not time.’ … It’s difficult because this is a place that I love and a place that I’m extremely happy. I love the hosts, I love the crew, I love our staff, I’m so grateful to the audience for letting me in your homes every day. It’s been such an honor.”

It’s unknown when Gilbert’s last episode will be, but she is staying for the rest of the season. She also said that she will return as a guest co-host in the future.
