‘The Umbrella Academy’ Fans Think Viktor Could Be in an Alternate Timeline

The Umbrella Academy Season 3 is almost here. Elliot Page (pronouns he/they) debuted a new character Viktor Hargreeves. This is how fans think he’ll fit into the universe of the show.

‘The Umbrella Academy’ introduces Viktor Hargreeves

Page came out as transgender in 2020. “Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot,” they shared in an Instagram post. “I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.”

The actor later revealed to Time that they previously struggled to look at their photos. “I just never recognized myself,” they said and they struggled with wearing feminine clothing.

The Umbrella Academy quickly changed credits to list Elliot’s name. But some fans wondered if Page’s character would change as well. Page shared a picture on March 29 of their character sitting at a bar with the caption, “Meet Viktor Hargreeves.” This could mean Page’s character also transitioned, but some fans have another theory.

Fans were quick to react to the new photo. Some of them think Page’s character will now be Viktor. But others think Viktor might just be in a different timeline from Vanya.

“I mean couldnt this be the alt timeline Vanya? So Elliot could be [playing] both,” one fan wrote on Reddit.

“I think assuming they changed the character is hasty, this could be the Eagle Academy or whatever’s version of Vanya. Elliot could be playing both genders in which that’s a really damn interesting way to go about it,” a second fan commented.

“My bets: Viktor is alt reality Vanya, but he will cause them to realize they are trans and they will transition,” a third person theorized.

Season 2 ended with a different timeline

This theory does fall in line with how season 2 ended. “The End of Something” ended with the Hargreeves trying to return to 2019. At first, it looks like they were successful since they made it to the Hargreeves mansion.

But then they’re confronted by Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore), who should be dead. He then reveals The Sparrow Academy, which includes Ben (Justin H. Min), who is also alive. They don’t look friendly. So the season will deal with an alternate timeline. Season 3 will be released on Netflix on June 22, 2022.
