McCain recently revealed she is keeping details about her pregnancy private, and she has a heartbreaking reason for it.

Meghan McCain has been social distancing amid her pregnancy

McCain and her husband, Ben Domenech, have been married since 2017, but the process to having a child has been tough for the couple. In 2019, McCain revealed she had a miscarriage a year before. Fortunately for McCain and Domenech, the pair was able to conceive again. McCain announced her pregnancy on social media in late March.

“My husband Ben and I have been blessed to find out I’m pregnant,” she wrote on Twitter. “Although this isn’t how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all.”

McCain also went on to share that, given the current pandemic, she is being “extra vigilant” about her health and safety. She started social distancing and co-hosting The View via satellite.

Despite the happy news, McCain has decided to not share much of her pregnancy with social media followers. She recently explained that this is due to the many negative comments she continually receives about her late father.

“People keep asking and requesting I show pics & details of my pregnancy,” Meghan said in a tweet. “Given that people write on photos I put up of my family they are glad my Dad got cancer and he’s in hell, I thought I would leave my unborn child out of the social media cess pool as much as is possible.”

Afterwards, McCain took a screenshot of the tweet and posted the picture on to Instagram. Here, she decided to elaborate on her decision, writing in the caption: “Ben and I have made the conscious decision to guard our (growing) families privacy as much as is possible… A bunch of inhumane jackasses have really ruined so much for so many on social media and I learned a lot of hard lessons about cruelty that comes with being open and vulnerable about my personal life during my Dads cancer fight.”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, McCain has also been receiving negative comments about her pregnancy. After announcing with followers she was expecting, McCain reportedly received responses from people who hoped pregnancy would “soften her.”

McCain clapped back on Twitter, writing: “So many people commenting they hope pregnancy ‘softens me’ makes me beyond depressed for how we view strong, tough, empowered women. Also, I’m 35, I am who I am and I like it that way.”
