‘The View’: Meghan McCain Reacts to Kanye West 2020 Presidential Run Announcement

Meghan McCain from The View is not one to shy away from controversial issues. Her run on the ABC talk show has been met with many news headlines dedicated to her. McCain knows what it’s like to be met with criticism for every move she makes that shocks people. However, the surprising news over the 4th of July weekend was that Kanye West was running for President of the United States. The Republican pundit is now giving her take on the news.

Meghan McCain gives her take on Kanye West presidential hopes

There was no fireworks launched on the 4th of July that causes a bigger splash than what West announced on America’s birthday. Kim Kardashian’s husband tweeted out that he was running to take over the White House.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” the rapper tweeted.

There’s no word yet if West is seriously launching a presidential campaign or if he was just playing with people’s minds. However, he already counts with the backing of billionaire Elon Musk who tweeted out his full support. Kardashian also retweeted her husband and added an American flag.

McCain’s take on the announcement was interesting as she exposed the double standard between men and women that exists in society.

“There is no woman on planet Earth, celebrity or private who could behave has unhinged and erratic as Kanye has the past few years [and] be taken seriously as a presidential candidate,” she tweeted. “Women are punished for raising our voices on TV, let alone saying things like, ‘slavery was a choice.'”

Fans react to Meghan McCain’s tweet

McCain has a divisive following and it’s always interesting to see the replies she gets on Twitter. Her followers were quick to react to the conservative co-host a woman would have never been taken seriously if they had a history like West.

“Just because people are talking about it, it doesn’t mean he’s being taken seriously, just stop,” a follower disagreed with McCain.

“You are so right,” a fan agreed with The View co-host. “The same could be said about the behavior of the current president. Any woman behaving in that manner would have been crucified.”

“Not to mention [Kanye] has zero qualifications and most likely doesn’t even know how to get on the ballot, or that he can’t in many states,” a Twitter user noted.

“Even if [it’s] a PR stunt, what a disgrace to the country that someone can utilize something powerful as being president,” another Twitter user commented. “Let’s remember no one thought Trump was serious and look [at] what happened.”

Meghan McCain causes waves on Twitter

Something that people love about McCain is that she always calls things out no matter how controversial it is. The political analyst loves using social media and commenting on the latest “Hot Topics.” She seemingly came across tweets that are voicing they want her off The View and asking to cut her out when she goes on maternity leave. This did not sit well with McCain and she fired back.

“Buncha jacka**es on social media saying they hope I get fired from The View when I go on maternity leave because it will be a great excuse when I give birth,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “[This] is why the patriarchy is alive [and] strong and why career women continue to put off starting families so long. Such bulls**t.”

The View airs weekday mornings at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. CT/PT on ABC.
