‘The View’ Season 23 Premiere Date: Watch Promo for Return of ABC Talk Show
The ladies of The View took a little break from the Hot Topics table this summer. Fans of the show have missed the panel that consists of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Abby Huntsman, Ana Navarro, and Meghan McCain. All of the women are expected to return for Season 23 ready to give their takes on pop culture and the political world.
A new season of views
Viewers of the ABC talk show were treated to a new promo on social media with what’s ahead for Season 23. In the clip, fans were able to see the whole crew’s best bits from last season with Lizzo’s “Exactly How I Feel” playing in the background.
“The most important political tv show in America,” are the words that appear as presidential candidates past visits flashed on the screen.
Sound bytes of the ladies play throughout the minute-long video.
“Five women… this is how it’s done sweetheart,” Meghan says.
“I think you guys are incredible,” presidential candidate Kamala Harris is heard saying.
“I look at this table… this is America,” Abby says, who will also make her comeback to the table after she left on maternity leave.
“Only on The View do you get this information,” Joy quips.
The View will make its triumphant return to the ABC network on Tuesday, September 3 at 11 a.m. ET / 10 a.m. CT/PT.
Is Meghan McCain quitting ‘The View’?
There was speculation that John McCain’s daughter was wary about returning to The View as she was feeling “exhausted and defeated.” During the last season, Meghan has divided opinions on social media for her talking points. With Abby gone on maternity leave, Meghan has been the only conservative voice on the table and has had no backup in the debates.
“It’s getting to the point where it’s not worth the emotional toll every week,” a close friend of Meghan told The Daily Beast. “If she doesn’t stay at The View, she will find other work.”
When news of Meghan doubting her return Senior Executive Producer on the daytime talker, Hilary Estey McLoughlin, said that no one wants the conservative voice to leave.
“We don’t want people to attack Meghan. We’re happy to have Meghan there,” McLoughlin told The Daily Beast. “I think she does want to be there. I think she wants to be on the show. She realizes it’s a very good platform for her and we love having her there. I feel like she will come back.”
Is Sunny Hostin the leaker?
Following the previous report, Page Six then published that Meghan would only return if “things changed.”
“There are some things that need to change. Meghan feels constantly attacked,” the insider told the publication.
Making matters more difficult was another rumor that Sunny was the one leaking information to the press.
“They believe there are eyewitnesses and texts that can corroborate this,” a source also told Page Six.
McLoughlin debunked those rumors: “I don’t think Sunny is the leak. I don’t think anyone who is working on the show could be that overtly doing something that’s potentially problematic for their own careers.”
An ABC News spokesperson also issued a statement regarding the matter: “As evident on The View, Sunny, an award-winning journalist and former federal prosecutor, never holds back and freely shares any and all opinions she has. She’s been a terrific addition to the table, a fierce and passionate advocate who brings smart and insightful analysis to every debate and discussion on the show. It’s been an incredible season, and we look forward to having her at the co-host table for an epic year ahead.”
