‘The View’: Whoopi Goldberg Loses Patience With Meghan McCain and Schools Her

Meghan McCain is causing a ruckus on The View once again and this time Whoopi Goldberg did not hold back. The “Hot Topics” table lived up to its name as tensions rose. Things reached a fever pitch amongst the co-host and the show’s moderator had no other choice but to break to commercials.

What caused an argument on ‘The View’?

Every time the co-hosts of The View talk about politics the stress level rises. All five women on the panel are passionate about defending their ideologies in this polarizing political climate. When the ABC talk show touches upon the military veterans, things especially get tense.

That is exactly what happened this morning on the daytime show. The ladies were talking about criticism that U.S. Army officer Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman was receiving. Fox News Channel host, Laura Ingraham, suggested that the veteran is a double agent.

McCain argued that someone that is putting their life on the line protecting U.S. citizens “automatically gets a pass” from her. Behar, on the other hand, differed from her point saying, “Hold on a second, just because somebody served does not ipso facto make them above reproach.”

As the conversation grew in intensity, Sunny Hostin mentioned war criminals and Goldberg intervened to add a little order to the discussion.

“Ok, everyone just take a breath because it’s becoming hard to…,” Goldberg intervened as McCain then tried to talk over her.

“Hold on, let just finish what I’m saying so I can just say… Everyone has something to say and we really do want to hear from everybody but we’re starting to do that thing,” Goldberg added.

“I don’t know what that means, ‘that thing,'” McCain snarked.

“It means you’re talking over each other,” Goldberg replied expressing annoyance in her face.

“Well, it’s The View,” McCain said to laughter from the audience.

This is when Goldberg completely lost her cool and schooled McCain on being respectful.

“You know what? Let me tell you something about The View,” Goldberg said as she adjusted herself on her seat. “This show has always had the ability to have different points of view, which we respect around the table.”

“When I’m saying to you, ‘hold up,’ because we’re not hearing each other, I’m not trying to cut you off. I’m trying to get you heard,” Goldberg continued.

McCain then interrupts Goldberg saying, “I don’t think you’re trying to cut me off but…”

“You’re doing it right now. We’ll be back,” Goldberg said exasperated before cutting off to commercials.

Feuds between Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain

The on-air spar came just two weeks after Goldberg shut McCain down for trying to talk over Joy Behar. It also came a week after McCain snapped at Goldberg for laughing after she made a comment. The “Sister Act” star was able to ease McCain and not turn it into a major blowout like the incident today.

Just last week, McCain threw an on-air tantrum when she felt she was being cut off from talking. When the ladies were debating Harvey Weinstein attending an actor’s event, the conservative pundit tried to chime in.

As she was making her point the show’s music started playing in the background signaling a commercial break was coming up. She turned and looked at someone off-camera and stopped mid-sentence.

Goldberg encouraged her to continue talking but McCain was annoyed that she wasn’t given ample time to finish her thought.

“It’s fine. I’m being… It’s the Oscars, it’s fine, thanks,” she said reluctantly.

Goldberg had no other choice than to just send to break as McCain refused to continue speaking.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. PT/CT.
