‘The View’: Whoopi Goldberg Proves Meghan McCain Wrong in Dramatic On-Air Clash
Whoopi Goldbgerg and Meghan McCain went at it on The View. During the pandemic, the co-hosts had been a little more tolerant but as the ladies get comfortably broadcasting from home, the fiery debates are returning. During the on-air spar, Goldberg called out McCain for an error and the latter clapped back. However, it was the show’s moderator that ultimately got the last word.
What was the feud about?
Every morning the ladies of The View discuss the latest “Hot Topics” where they each take turns giving their opinions about certain issues. This time, it was Goldberg and McCain fighting back and forth about an old interview with the organizers of the Women’s March.
It all started when the “Challenge Accepted” viral trend was brought up, something that McCain disagreed with.
“As a conservative woman, there’s always a level of skepticism because we are never invited into circles, traditionally,” McCain said. “In the Women’s March, we were literally not invited to join and told to stay home if you’re pro-life.”
McCain continued, “It ended up being that the leaders of the Women’s March had strong ties to Farrakhan and a lot of anti-Semitic, and in my opinion, extremely problematic and controversial views.”
That is when Goldberg interjected and corrected McCain by saying that only “one of the women had strong ties,” not both of them.
“Well, you can watch the tape of me interviewing them on the show and make your own decision,” McCain clapped back.
“Yeah, I was there,” Goldberg fired back.
“You were not,” McCain yelled back.
They both went back and forth a couple more times.
“I will get it for you so you can see what I’m talking about,” Goldberg added.
Goldberg then reiterated that the challenge was for all women and showed her Instagram post for McCain to see.
Who was right?
The queen of The View ended up being in the right as McCain was referring to an interview conducted on January 14, 2019. Tamika D. Mallory and Bob Bland, the co-presidents of the Women’s March, were at the table talking about the controversies they were facing.
At the table was Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, and McCain, proving the latter wrong.
Fans react to feud
When the video went viral on social media, fans were quick to share their comments on McCain’s behavior towards Goldberg.
“I just don’t understand the disrespect Meghan McCain has show her co-workers and especially Whoopi. Hit the bricks Meghan, ASAP,” a fan noted.
“And as usual, Whoopi had to put the BABY in her place… AGAIN! Thank you Whoopi,” a viewer added.
“[McCain] truly needs to apologize on camera, just as she felt so empowered to say, ‘No, you weren’t,’ on camera to Whoopi Goldberg,” a Twitter user suggested.
“I am so sick and tired of Meghan McCain and her attitude,” another fan mentioned. “She has to be one of the worst conservative hosts The View has ever had. Not as bas as Elisabeth [Hasselbeck], but pretty close. Once her father passed away and she married Ben, she is worse than ever. It’s time for her to go.”
“Please get Meghan off of the show. I don’t mind opposing views but she’s just rude,” another Twitter user commented.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. PT/CT on ABC.
