The co-hosts of ‘The View’ discussed impeachment

On The View, the co-hosts discussed the idea of President Donald Trump being impeached. During the debate, Sunny Hostin compared the current state of impeachment to how the Senate voted during President Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial.

“I think we also have to compare the Senate vote before. You had so many senators that voted to not only impeach, but also convict President Clinton for, yes, perjuring himself. Many of those people are still in the senate,” Hostin said.

She added, “I cannot believe they would vote to impeach and convict a president, a sitting president for perjuring himself, and they would not vote to convict a president…and remove a president who clearly used a…wanted to use a foreign government for his own personal benefit to impede our very democracy. That is the height of hypocrisy for this Republican-led senate.”

After Hostin shared her opinion, McCain jumped in to share her conservative perspective, citing that she is also a political analyst for ABC. Hostin attempted to clarify the point she was trying to make, but McCain asked her to let her finish speaking. That’s when Goldberg stepped in.

“Here’s what’s happening now. We’re going to keep…,” she said. When McCain kept talking, she then said, “Girl, please stop talking.”

“No problem, no problem,” McCain said in response. “I won’t talk the rest of the show, no problem.”

“I’m okay with that,” Goldberg replied. “I’m okay with that.”

The two continued to debate with each other until The View went to a commercial break.

After The View ended, McCain took to Twitter to share her side of the debate.

“Dems and Rs alike need to confront the ugly truth: both parties are failing to be impartial jurors. I won’t be quiet, even if the reality reflects poorly on the entire political establishment. I have a responsibility to speak for the 50% that feels media doesn’t represent them,” she tweeted.

She added, “Pointing out things that are true is part of my job even if it angers people and even if it’s politically inconvenient.”
