‘The View’s’ Meghan McCain Gets Support From This CNN Host Against a Body Shamer
Meghan McCain has openly shared that she often gets booed from the studio audience on The View. The talk show host has also been subjected to body shaming on social media, where she recently shot back at a Twitter user for some highly rude remarks.
The conservative panelist just posted a thank you to her good friend S.E. Cupp, a CNN host and fellow conservative, for having her back on another fat-shaming troll.
Back in October, McCain posted a photo of herself along with fellow co-host from The View Abby Huntsman in pink outfits to support Breast Cancer Awareness month. “Wearing pink for breast cancer awareness month! Sending love and strength to those fighting it and the survivors – we are with you,” McCain captioned the tweet, according to Yahoo! Lifestyle,
Unfortunately, a follower took the opportunity to go low rather than go high, and posted a nasty and irrelevant comment. “How many pounds ago was that profile picture?” the follower wrote. “Jenny Craig, NutriSystem or Weight Watchers (WW) would endorse you without hesitation.”
McCain wisely chose to address the comment bby providing a lesson on why fat shaming is hurtful and harmful. “[It’s] harassment like this that can lead women to eating disorders. I am one of the lucky ones who never suffered from it,” McCain responded on Twitter. “I never dieted to get a man or a job and [somehow] landed my dream [for] both — hope young girls see me and know they don’t have to diet either.”
The offensive tweet directed at McCain was later deleted.
Going to bat for a bestie
Cupp had posted a photo of herself and McCain in late October, wishing the daytime host a happy birthday. One of Cupp’s follower’s asked Cupp if she “weighed more than McCain,” according to Yahoo! Celebrity. That’s when Cupp clapped back.
“First, I love my body and you should know that you have ZERO impact on my self-respect,” Cupp shot back. “Second, I’m thrilled to be compared to Meghan, my best friend, in ANY way. She is gorgeous, inside and out.”
The CNN host didn’t stop there, continuing to take the social media user to task. “But third and most importantly, I’m sad for you … this life you have, getting high off of criticizing women you don’t know … must be so unfulfilling,” Cupp wrote. “Cutting us down doesn’t work anymore … we actually thrive on this s*** now! So thank you.”
Though McCain’s conservative views and tell-it-like-it-is delivery often does not go over well with viewers, many social media followers applauded her and Cupp for their response to the petulant poster. Even viewers who disagree with the conservative TV personalities posted in support.
“Great response! While I don’t agree with either of you a lot, you are both beautiful!” another follower posted. One chimed in with, “Honey you are beautiful inside and out, only insecure people make comments like this.”
McCain and Cupp are a great example of backing up your bestie!
