‘The Voice’: Chrissy Teigen Responds to Accusation That She Spoiled the Season 16 Finale
Season 16 of The Voice has crowned its winner. However, some fans claim they were spoiled before they got to watch because of Chrissy Teigen. What does she have to say in response? Here is everything you need to know. Warning Season 16 finale spoiler!
The Season 16 finale announced its winner
John Legend was able to take home a win at the end of his first season of the show. Maelyn Jarmon won and it didn’t take very long for the newcomer coach to rub it in Blake Shelton’s face.
“I really love Blake and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know him this year. He’s a very arrogant bastard,” Legend said in a press conference, according to People. “I had a feeling he was going to kiss someone’s a** after this show and I was right.”
Jarmon talked about what it was like competing being deaf in her left ear. “I didn’t know how [the show] was going to turn out because I had never been on this kind of platform or worked with in-ears before and that had its own challenges,” she said.
She continued, “Last week, my in-ears went out halfway through my performance, and I couldn’t hear anything anymore. When that has happened to me before this show because I sometimes can’t hear, I’ll go based off feeling. I was able to do that in that moment because of my practice with that in the past. It has been, sometimes, an issue but mostly an advantage.”
Legend had to spoil the finale for Teigen
The East Coast got to watch the ending before the West Coast. Legend said his wife asked him to tell her who won before it aired for them.
“You know, we’re on the West Coast and we don’t get to see it live on television and she was asking me, ‘When do they announce? When do they announce?'” he said according to Entertainment Tonight. “And finally, I was able to tell her we won. She was very excited.”
Teigen ended up celebrating on Twitter, which got a lot of backlash for “spoiling” the results. But did she actually spoil the episode?
Teigen tweeted that the show’s official account tweeted about the ending first
The model first retweeted and commented, “OH MY GODDDDDDDD!! WOOHOO!!!” on the show’s tweet giving a spoiler warning alert about the show’s winner. The Voice then tweeted, “.@MaelynMusic has that winner swag! It was a Legendary season, indeed” with a gif of the winner and Legend together. Again Teigen tweeted in response, “this is literally the happiest I’ve ever seen John ever????”
Some fans saw these tweets and weren’t happy with Teigen at all for “spoiling” the ending. She later responded to the accusation with a sarcastic apology.
She tweeted, “truly sorry for spoiling the voice tonight. I thought that since the official account tweeted it, it would be okay. But now I realize it wasn’t and will make sure that when my husband wins something with someone, I will wait for each state and every country before being excited.”
She then followed up with, “well it looks like we are now being penalized for my spoiler and the award has been taken away and given to Carson Daly. Again I apologize.”
So did Teigen actually spoil the finale? Some people might not agree with the answer, but either way, she is very happy that her husband won.
