‘The Voice’: Does Adam Levine Have Any Bad Blood With the Other Coaches?

Adam Levine shocked fans of The Voice when he announced last week that he would not be returning to the show. The singer, who has been on the show since day one, took to Instagram to thank those who have been there along the way.

Levine didn’t give a specific reason for leaving, simply saying that it was “time to move on.” This has left many fans wondering: “Does Adam Levine have bad blood with the other coaches?”

Despite rumors, there is no bad blood between Levine and Shelton

Over the past eight years, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have spent hours hurling insults at one another. From calling each other names to fighting over contestants, it’s easy for outsiders to think there is bad blood between the two. And who can forget when Shelton gave out Levine’s personal phone number and the Maroon 5 frontman responded by dumping cow manure on the country singer’s shiny red truck.

But both singers have repeatedly referred to the other as their brother. In Levine’s goodbye post on Instagram, Levine wrote of his friendship with Shelton:

“I couldn’t hide my love for you if I tried. Seriously. I tried. Can’t do it. Our friendship is and always will be one for the books. Whatever this whole surreal experience was, I’m just happy I got to experience it with you. You’re my brother for life.”

The country singer found out about Levine’s departure the night prior to Levine’s official announcement. Shelton took to Twitter to express his feelings about the news:

“Having a hard time wrapping my head around @adamlevine not being at @NBCTheVoice anymore. After 16 seasons that changed both of ours lives. I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn’t set in on me yet. Gonna miss working with that idiot.”

Kelly Clarkson spoke out on his behalf

It’s clear that there is no bad blood between Levine and Shelton, the show’s longest-running judges, but what about the rest of the panel? American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson joined The Voice in season 14 and John Legend joined the panel last season.

Clarkson told Extra that she understands why Levine chose to walk away from the show, saying, “I kind of get it. He’s been doing it for eight years — that’s a long time. He’s got a couple kids. Still has a career. Still touring. It’s a very rigorous schedule fitting everything in.”

Legend told Entertainment Tonight that the crew is sad to see him go, adding, “He’s been so important to the show even existing, so we’re all going to miss him.”

As for host, Carson Daly, he has been along for the whole ride just like Shelton and Levine. Levine gave the host a shout out in his Instagram post thanking the former TRL host for babysitting the judges. Daly said on the Today show, “He will always be a cherished member of the Voice family and of course we wish him nothing but the best.”

Will Blake Shelton be the next to go?

The reason Levine’s exit came as such a surprise is that fans have been with him since the beginning. In a way, many fans believed that Levine would be with the show until the end. The same goes for Shelton, it’s just hard to imagine the show without either one of them.

Now that Levine has announced his exit, does that mean that Shelton won’t be far behind? As of now, the “Ol’ Red” singer has not announced any plans to leave anytime soon. His longtime girlfriend, Gwen Stefani will be rejoining the show and taking Levine’s place, so we’d find it hard to believe that Shelton is on his way out.

But just like Levine, Shelton does have a successful music career where he continues to tour and record albums. At some point, you would imagine that the singer may choose to walk away to spend more time on his singing career. All we can do at this point is cross our fingers and hope that Shelton is sticking around for the long haul.

But we still can’t help but feel sad that the country singer is going to be doing it without his best bud.
