‘The Voice’: Miley Cyrus Thanks Janice Freeman Following the Former Contestant’s Death
Janice Freeman competed on The Voice back in Season 13. Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus turned around for her in her blind audition. She chose Cyrus and they went on to have a close bond. Freeman’s team recently announced that she has sadly passed away, and Cyrus has responded to the news.

Freeman impressed the coaches with her blind audition performance of the Imagine Dragons song, “Radioactive.” She then joined Miley Cyrus’ team.
The two had a very close bond and Cyrus financially helped the singer out. Freeman talked about it in a video on Instagram live saying “Miley, you are my dawg, like my best friend, and I will defend you to the bitter end” and “You got somebody that got your back.”
She continued, “I’m so overwhelmed, and I need y’all to understand that it is time to go into 2018 believing God for real. Y’all don’t understand that you see these people on TV—you see things happening and all of that—but you don’t understand that these people are real. Her heart is so huge and she allows God to use her to bless my life.”
She tweeted to clarify how Cyrus helped her, ” Thank you ALL but she found us placement until we found permanent housing, gave me the deposit, covered me for 6 months so I can get on my feet! @MileyCyrus you are one of my closest friends and what you did for me and my family
Freeman’s team released a statement announcing her death
The Season 13 contestants died from complications from pneumonia and having a blood clot. There was a statement released by the singer’s team.

Miley Cyrus posted to her story thanking Freeman
The former contestant’s coach responded to the news on Instagram. She posted a picture of a garden in her Instagram story with a rainbow in the background. She wrote, “Thank you @janicefreeman … for everything. This represents you perfectly.”
She also tweeted a photo with Freeman with the words ” Just when my heart misses u so much I don’t think I can stand it
Jennifer Hudson also responded to the news on Instagram. She posted a video of Freeman’s audition with the caption, “@janicefreeman the voice of hers we got to hear and the bit of life we got to watch her live was a blessing and inspiration to us all! My heart and prayers go out to @janicefreeman daughter and family! @mileycyrus @nbcthevoice#ripjanicefreeman.”
The Voice’s official Twitter account posted the message “Janice Freeman was an inspiration. Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
