The Voice is replacing another coach next season. That’s because Gwen Stefani will be leaving again after being reunited with Blake Shelton.

Season 18 will have Nick Jonas as a coach for the first time. Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend will return for the season.

The country coach already gave Jonas a hard time about his age. Find out what Jonas had to say in response and more.

The competition show has been going through a lot of changes. That’s because original coach, Adam Levine decided to quit after 16 seasons. Stefani stepped into his place and seemed happy about it.

“To think that [Adam’s] not going to be there is like bittersweet. And plus, like, being between him and Blake, the amount of laughter, I would have to like stop and massage my face, because it would hurt,” Stefani said on The Talk.

She then said, “But it’s going to be fun, it’s going to be exciting. I mean, Blake’s my best friend, so I get to hang out with him at work.”

It seems like that was all temporary. That’s because Ellen DeGeneres revealed that Jonas is joining The Voice as a coach.

He told Blake Shelton he has a 20-year career

Shelton made a video for him. “Nick Jonas! How you doin’, buddy? I heard that you’re going to be a new coach on The Voice and I wanted to say congratulations I guess.”

The country singer already started messing with the 27-year-old newcomer. “I’m going to have to look through the rules because this is my TV show,” he said. “I’m not even sure if you’re old enough to be a coach on The Voice, but I’m certain that you’re going to get your butt kicked, buddy.”

Kelly Clarkson also was in the video saying they should form an alliance since they’re both from Texas. John Legend was next and he said “Our mission is to destroy Blake Shelton. We have to form an alliance. Me, you, Kelly.”

“I am so excited about this,” Jonas said. “You’re basically the first people I’ve told, so thank you for being a part of this special moment for me.”

He had a message for Shelton. “Just to be clear, Blake, I’m going to kick your a**” said Jonas. He also responded to the country’s star jab about his age by reminding him that he has a 20-year career now.

Fans are happy about the news

Fans are now reacting to the news on Twitter. Some of them replied under the show’s announcement.

“You can not be serious? I am so excited! This is super amazing to hear Nick! You are going to rock,” one fan tweeted. Another fan tweeted, “So I have to tryout for @NBCTheVoice now thanks @nickjonas.”

His brothers also tweeted about the news. Joe Jonas tweeted, “Congrats brother! Can’t wait to see you kill it on Season 18 of @nbcthevoice!! #[email protected]” Kevin tweeted, “Congrats @nickjonas on joining @nbcthevoice!! Proud of you! #NickJonasJoinsTheVoice.”

Fans still have to wait a while to watch Jonas on the show. It looks like many will be rooting for him.
