‘The Voice’: Priyanka Chopra Had to Tell Nick Jonas the Rules

Coaches on The Voice love to tease each other and play up the intense competition. But now that Gwen Stefani has left the show, fans weren’t sure how the next season would play out.

Recently, however, fans got a sneak peek into what they can expect for season 18. Nick Jonas will be joining the show, and he already has his number one fan cheering him on. Here’s what we know so far.

Nick Jonas is joining ‘The Voice’

This spring, Jonas has a new gig. He’ll be joining the cast of NBC’s The Voice to work alongside Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton as a coach. He made the news public during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

To make the announcement really special, DeGeneres organized a special over-the-air welcome from the other coaches on the show. Shelton appeared on a big-screen and congratulated Jonas on joining the show. But he couldn’t resist doing a little teasing as well. Shelton stated that he’d have to look through the rules because he had some concerns.

“I’m not even sure if you’re old enough to be a coach on The Voice,” Shelton said. “But I’m certain that you’re going to get your butt kicked buddy.”

Jonas laughed and took it all in good faith.

The other coaches on ‘The Voice’ want Nick Jonas to team up with them against Blake Shelton

When the other coaches appeared on screen, they had a different idea about how the next season would go. Clarkson appeared soon after Shelton and she noted their shared Texan roots.

“I do definitely feel like the two Texan should maybe team up and form an alliance,” Clarkson said. “I’m just saying.”

When Legend appeared, he echoed the alliance idea and said the overall goal was to take down Shelton.

We team up, we beat Blake, nothing else matters,” Legend said. “Deal? See you soon.”

It seems the coaches are already working on their strategy for the next season. Jonas said he was “so excited” to join the group. It should be an interesting show.

Priyanka Chopra had to teach Nick Jonas about ‘The Voice’

Jonas’ wife, Priyanka Chopra is a big fan of The Voice and she’s really excited for her husband to join the show. She thinks that he’ll be perfect for the role.

“I think that Nick is a natural mentor,” Chopra said, as reported by the Mumbai Mirror. “He’s so great at molding people because he sees everything and I think he’s going to be amazing in The Voice.”

She also revealed that she had to teach Jonas the rules of the show. Since she’s been a big fan of The Voice for a long time, and Jonas wasn’t that familiar with the show, she took on the job of explaining everything to him.

“I’m a big fan anyway of The Voice and I had to introduce Nick earlier to the rules,” Chopra said.

It wasn’t all work. Much of Jonas’ lessons were done with the couple relaxing in front of their TV. “We watched a lot of episodes together,” Chopra shared.

But even if Jonas didn’t know much about the show before, Chopra is convinced he’s the perfect pick for the next coach. “I think Nick, naturally, is so gifted and is so familiar with music that he is such a great choice for the show,” she said.

During an interview with Extra, Chopra provided more details about how she informed Jonas on his new role.

“I was like, ‘This is what you have to do,'” she said. “‘Let me tell you, as a fan.'”

Hopefully, she did a good job teaching her husband all the rules because fans are really excited to see Jonas in the next season.
